Team Julia

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/09/2017 18:15

I like Iona and Joanna though if spell it Johanna as I think it looks prettier.

Cecily is lovely too actually. I've never met a Cecily

daisypond · 16/09/2017 18:15

I like them all - really nice names. Celia is nice and I've never actually met one before. I haven't come across a baby Joanna ever. Alicia is probably my least favourite, but I still like it.

MammieBear · 16/09/2017 18:17

Verity - lovely virtue name.
Cecily - medieval version of Cecilia and a lovely character from the importance of being Ernest.
Celia - again lovely namewith a nice meaning if you went for Cecilia you could have it as a Nn though?
Julia - my favourite from your list, prefer it to Juliet.
Iona - a little more unusual from your list of names nice name but I can't help hearing "I own her" (in a bad accent of course)
Johanna - this is my middle name it will inevitably get shortened to Jo, don't know if that bothers you?
Alicia - the most frilly of the names on your list.

I think Julia is lovely and it has a very rich history as does Cecily they would be my top picks from your list, if you like Joan and have you thought about Joan? It seems like a good match with your style of names again good history, many notable wearer's of the name and cute Nn Joanie.
Good luck with name hunting Wink

MammieBear · 16/09/2017 18:19

If you like Joanna, silly phone!!

pilates · 16/09/2017 18:21

Verity
Joanna and Julia have a 70's feel to them

iamdazedandconfused · 16/09/2017 18:26

Love Verity and Iona Smile

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 16/09/2017 18:27

Love Cecily!

Yika · 16/09/2017 18:30

I love Celia, it's quite unusual but very classic. I like the way it rolls off the tongue.

Also really like Iona and Joanna.

It's a lovely list.

manicinsomniac · 16/09/2017 18:40

I love Verity and Joanna. Also really like Iona. Alicia is nice. Less keen on the others.

Backtoblack1 · 16/09/2017 19:05

Cecily! I'm a teacher and have never taught one! I think she'd be a bright, charming girl x

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2017 19:08

Cecily, Joanna or Julia are my favourites.

The only one on the list I'm not mad on is Celia.

Imabanana · 16/09/2017 19:09

Celia or Julia very pretty, prefer Alice to Alicia.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 16/09/2017 19:09

All are lovely apart from Verity (the one I know is anything but truthful).

Loyly · 16/09/2017 19:09

Verity

BertrandRussell · 16/09/2017 19:10

"Cecily - medieval version of Cecilia and a lovely character from the importance of being Ernest."

It's a lovely name but not sure she's a lovely character!

Needalifeoverhaul · 16/09/2017 19:13

I adore both Verity and Cecily. The only one I don't particularly like is Alicia.

Susierocks · 16/09/2017 19:16

My favourites from your list are Verity, Celia and Cecily. Iona would sound very Scottish with your surname (not that that's a problem!)

AdaColeman · 16/09/2017 19:20

Verity and Cecily are my favourites.

Not keen on Iona or Joanna.

pomadas87 · 16/09/2017 19:23

Thanks everyone!
My favourite is Verity but DH "hates" it!! I will keep campaigning though.
DH also wants a name that ends in 'a', so all of his favourites are things like Julia, Iona etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions I haven't thought of?

Absolutely love Julia, it's timeless, classy and so pretty!

pomadas87 · 16/09/2017 19:25

susierocks I know! Not a problem but seeing as we live in Scotland and have a Scottish surname I can't help but feel I (English) get a bit lost in all of it! If that makes sense

Love the name Joanna but little one may get called 'Joanne' a lot which is an entirely separate name and imo not as pretty. Do you like 'Ida' - would sound nice with a 'mac' surname? Off the top of my head other 'a' names I like are:
Ida
Lina
Fia
Lana
Reeva - my favourite but some negative associations that I doubt would be thought of now though.
