Kit or Kitty?

For a girl, please don't suggest a full long name like Katherine, etc i really don't like those. Which would be better to put on BC, Kit or Kitty? Thanks!

Kitty. Kit sounds a bit boyish. Kitty is lovely!

lollipop7 · 14/09/2017 11:17

My son is called Kit

Kitty would be what I'd put for a girl though I know Kit is unisex.

Kitty is a gorgeous name btw 😊

Friolero · 14/09/2017 11:18

Kitty is lovely for a girl. If I saw the name Kit I would assume it was a boy.

Annabelle4 · 14/09/2017 11:18

Definitely kitty.
Kit is masculine (imo)

ChocolateCrunch · 14/09/2017 11:48

Kitty, as Kit sounds like a boy's name to me.

m0therofdragons · 14/09/2017 11:57

Dd3 is Kitty and occasionally her siblings call Kit (no concern about it being masculine as she's as feminine as they come. She'd make "Dave" seem feminine).

HopperLong · 14/09/2017 12:01

Thanks all, i was actually swaying more towards Kit, as although it's a boys name, i thought Kitty could be made fun of more? I suppose with either she could have the option of both as a nickname

If you don't like Katherine /Catherine how about Katya or Katie for Kit/Kitty? Just to give her more options.

HopperLong · 14/09/2017 12:46

mammie, don't like them either sorry! Just between Kit and Kitty x

Kitty. I know 3 Kitty's, the eldest is 24, the youngest is 10. I think it's known enough that people wouldn't tease her for it. I don't think name teasing is as common these days as there are such an array of names used.

3EyedRaven · 14/09/2017 13:23

I'd say Kitty, Kit's more masculine.
Never understood why anyone needs 'options' with their name. There's always deedpoll if they really want the 'long version'

Jooni · 14/09/2017 13:53

Kitty for a girl. It's lovely.

bridgetreilly · 14/09/2017 14:10

Kitty.

euanthesheepiloveyou · 14/09/2017 14:12

Kitty is just lovely. And I adore Kit for a boy.

HopperLong · 14/09/2017 14:14

I love Kitty and Kit! but i agree Kitty is probably nicer for a girlSmile Thanks everyone

Kitty is a little too kitty catty for me personally. Too cutesy for a grown woman. So I would put Kit on the bc.

lollipop7 · 14/09/2017 14:59

See i think Kitty has actually quite an assured, womanly ring to it. I don't think it's too cutesy at all

ladybirdsaredotty · 14/09/2017 15:03

I love Kitty, she could always have Kit as a short form Smile

Molehillfromamountain · 14/09/2017 15:07

I have a Kitty, short for Kathleen which was a family name but seemed to 'big' a name for a newborn. Kit definitely says boy to me but I may be biased.

Viviennemary · 14/09/2017 15:09

Don't think either of them are appropriate names. Sorry. Absolutely fine for nicknames or short forms but not as a given name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/09/2017 15:11

Kitty

Ilovewillow · 14/09/2017 15:12

Kitty, it's a great name!

Wreckingball25 · 14/09/2017 15:31

I know a kitty short for felicity, if you like that?

Greenbucket · 14/09/2017 15:33

I would assume a Kit was a boy. It's short for christopher

MammieBear · 14/09/2017 16:29

Kitty it is then, good luck with the pregnancy Flowers
