Hello mums and mums to be. Looking for inspiration for girls names. Happy for suggestions but what is everyone's thoughts on two that me and my hubby like so far:

Lily-Sophia or Freya Rose????

I like double barrel names and that sound very feminine and pretty.

Thank you!!!!

If you like double barrel names i think Sophie-Rose works better than either of the combos you have there

MammieBear · 07/09/2017 16:02

Sophie Rose is lovely are you putting a hyphen in the name?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/09/2017 16:04

Freya Rose, is different and lovely .

@MammieBear I think I would use a hyphen so people know for sure it's a double barrel name and that the second name isn't just a middle name. :)

Thank you everyone so far for your comments!!

Keep them coming...

Why double barrel rather than a longer name, out of interest? There are some glorious very feminine and pretty names.

The trouble with the names you've mentioned is that they're very popular, particularly as part of a double-barrelled name. That may not bother you, but when you are one of a few in your class you use your surname or initial as well and that makes a long name even longer.

I'm not keen on the rhythm of Lily-Sophia as it sounds like it should be Lilyso-Phia. Sophia-Lily would be more elegant - or indeed Sophia on its own is lovely. Similar sounds would be Seraphina meaning angel which I think is really stylish and pretty.

Freya-Rose is a pretty popular combination so I find it a bit boring Blush and I also don't think it's particularly pretty/feminine. Freya was a strong and fierce Norse goddess so you could look at other goddess/mythology names like Andromeda, Ariadne, Aphrodite, Ianthe, Penelope, Selena or Xanthe.

@MrsHathaway not completely set on having a double-barrel name, open to any pretty feminine name, even long ones. I do really like Seraphina, not over used and little different whilst sounding pretty at the same time.

@Awwlookatmybabyspider thank you for all your lovely name suggestions. :)

If you want to double the names together, I think it might look better if one was a plainer name, otherwise it might start to look a bit too fancy.
Or the names could be joined together instead of using the hyphen.
Rose-Marie /Rosemarie
Marie-Anne / Marianne / Anna-Maria / Marianna
Rose-Anna / Rosanna / Anna-Rose
Lily-Anne / Liliana / Lilian

I like them better without the hyphen. Freya Rose or Freya Sophie would be nice.

I prefer them unhyphenated and separate names, tbh. You can always call them by both names, but life is much easier (form-filling etc) with a simpler first name with no punctuation.

Freya Rose is my favourite of your suggestions. Very pretty indeed.

Other very feminine pretty names:
Bluebell
Annabel
Josephine
Lilith
Evangeline
Trixie
Lucinda
Cicely or Cecily
Marianne
