It's a girl!

We found out today we're having a girl, after teaching DP the art of compromise it took us a long long time to decide on names that we could both live with (we have hugely different opinions) and here is our list
Some I love, some he loves, some we just don't mind, some we just don't hate
What's do you think?
We're not massively fussed on popularity

Emily
April
Harriet
Heidi
Lydia
Talulah
Cecilia
Abigail

Quite like a lot of your names!
Except Tallulah.
Harriet is my favourite I think.

starkid · 04/09/2017 21:13

Not fond of April either

Composteleana · 04/09/2017 21:25

I love Cecilia, one of my favourites (DP would never agree, he seems to think all children are still called Jane and John). Like Cece as a shortening.

I like Emily, Harriet and Heidi too, the others I'm not keen on.

You didn't ask for alternatives but since I spend far too long thinking about baby names for someone who hasn't even managed to conceive yet, here are some anyway that have a similar feel to your list, feel free to ignore ....

Tabitha
Miranda
Helena
Lara
Sophie
Jessica
Valentina
Georgiana

The only ones I'd use are Emily and Tallulah.

I really don't like any of the others, sorry! Especially Lydia, which has an incredibly ugly sound to me for some reason.

oldbirdy · 04/09/2017 21:30

I think Cecily is prettier than Cecelia (Oh Cecelia, You're breakin' my heart...she'll have to get used to that song!). Friend's daughter is Cecily Rose, they call her Cessie for short.
I like Harriet and Emily
Love the meaning of Abigail (Father's joy) and love the nickname Abbie, but not so keen on the who name.
Tallulah is naff, sorry, bit too try hard. Heidi is a bit...simpering.

SlugKiller · 04/09/2017 22:10

Lydia is my favourite but Tallulah (I prefer that spelling) is a close second.

What about Talitha?

Seekingmiracles · 04/09/2017 22:48

I have a Tallulah! I LOVE it. But it got annihilated by Mumsnet when I put it out there. Real life opinions are ALWAYS positive!!
Basically dont listen to the opinions of people you don't know. If you love it, go with it.

ABitOTT · 04/09/2017 22:59

If I had a baby girl tomorrow which could never happen as perimenopausal I'd call her Talulah!

Love love love that nameWink

CakeRattleandRoll · 05/09/2017 00:56

Love Abigail.

Sophronia · 05/09/2017 01:23

Cecilia, Lydia or Harriet

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/09/2017 06:40

I think they are all lovely

My personal favourites would be Heidi , Lydia, Tallulah or April (especially if born in April)

Hazandduck · 05/09/2017 23:54

I vote Cecilia, Lydia or Harriet :) Harriet is my name and I have to say even though it isn't a rare name I've never met another Harriet and I always get complimented on it! I always thought it was an old lady name when I was a teenager but I love it now I'm not so shy, my NN has always been Harri but Hattie would be cute too. Congratulations!

ilovepixie · 05/09/2017 23:56

Love Harriet. And harry as a short is lovely too

Mclaren37 · 06/09/2017 03:40

Cecelia is my current fav girls name! Would be next child's name of he were going to be a she - love it! Tallulah is a bit too much for me but I really do like it. April is lovely too.
Harriet and Emily are safe and nice but don't set my world on fire.
Heidi, Lydia and Abigail I am really not keen on.

Argeles · 06/09/2017 04:40

Tallulah is definitely the best on your list in my opinion op.

sonlypuppyfat · 06/09/2017 04:41

I know a Harriette it's very pretty

RosemaryHoight · 06/09/2017 04:53

I really like Cicely like the author of the flower fairies oldbirdy

But people thought I meant Sicily like the land mass.
