New Baby Girl - what do you think?

Hi all, my LO is 2 1/2 days old now. We had a boys name we loved but she's a girl! No closer to a girls name than all pregnancy. What does anyone think of Claudia? What shortenings could you have? I teach one and her friends shorten it to Claude (I think this might be inevitable) I know you can't control what others call her but what other nicknames could we use?

Well she could be Claudie, or if for example she was Claudia Jane, or last name eg Jones, she could be CJ !
I think we often develop our own little pet names for our children.

Paperbagprincesspants · 02/09/2017 09:14

She could be DeeDee or Lourdie

emilybrontescorset · 02/09/2017 09:33

I think Claudia is nice. Maybe she will just be known as Claudia.

DragonsandDungeons · 02/09/2017 09:39

I went to school with Claudia, she was just Claudia. No shortening.

Branleuse · 02/09/2017 09:58

Ive always liked the name

SuperBeagle · 02/09/2017 10:05

One of my best friends' is a Claudia.

She gets Claude and Claudie.

I don't like the full name, the nicknames, or the meaning, to be honest. Blush

bridgetreilly · 02/09/2017 10:14

Lovely name!

daisypond · 02/09/2017 10:14

I really like Claudia. Does it need a short form? None of my three girls have a short form for their names. Dia?

SlugKiller · 02/09/2017 10:39

I love Claudia. It doesn't need shortening

CallySinammon · 02/09/2017 10:50

Gorgeous name and nicer as a full name than any shortening I can think of.

ememem84 · 02/09/2017 10:59

I'm never sure how to pronounce it. I went to school with two. One was a CLAUDia and the other a CLOUDia but both spelled Claudia. If you see what I mean.

The "cloudia" was Portuguese though so maybe this is why...

Either way. I love the name.

greendale17 · 02/09/2017 11:03

Don't like the name.

Heyx · 02/09/2017 11:04

Really lovely. I know one and her full name is used.

SumAndSubstance · 02/09/2017 11:25

I teach a Claudia. She is just 'Claudia'.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 02/09/2017 12:09

Thanks so much for replying! At the moment we're torn between
Claudia
Beatrice
Maybe Alexandra?
Any preferences?

CallySinammon · 02/09/2017 12:16

I like both Claudia and Alexandra. Not a fan of Beatrice though. It seems drab in comparison to the other two.

DragonsandDungeons · 02/09/2017 12:17

I like Claudia out of those but they're all very nice names

LoveB · 02/09/2017 12:18

Claudia's the best! I think it's a lovely name - and I like Claude or Claudy x

Salmonpinkcords · 02/09/2017 12:47

Beatrice and then Claudia

Alexandra is beautiful, I'm not mad about the others

Laniakea · 02/09/2017 18:09

Mine was Claudie when she was little, she's Claud to most of her friends now (nearly 17) though just Claudia to us. She loves her name Smile There is another Claudia in her year at school, much to her annoyance!

I prefer Beatrix to Beatrice & I really don't like Alexandra (for no good reason)

MadameJosephine · 02/09/2017 20:31

Claudia is by far the best, gorgeous name

Yika · 02/09/2017 21:46

I like the name Claudia, find it very elegant. I agree that it doesn't need shortening. I find Beatrice a bit stodgy. Alexandra is lovely.

BackforGood · 02/09/2017 22:03

I like Alexandra best of those - which would normally drop to Alex but could be 'Zandra' I suppose.

Agree that nick names just develop though - often through something someone has said or a mispronunciation or something, or some kind of a pet name.
