Hayden or Haydn?

I know they're supposed to sound different, but all the Haydns I know say it as Hayden... I do prefer the fact that it's the original, but will Hayden be much easier for him?

Thanks! Smile

If you want to pronounce the name as hay-den then call him Hayden. Haydn is pronounce high-den even if the Haydns you know disagree.

ThePurpleBoat · 28/08/2017 01:13

It's funny, 1 of them is actually named after the composer, but is still pronounced Hayden Confused

I also know Haydns that pronounce it Hayden (2 of them) but a lot of people think Haydn is a made-up spelling, which pisses me off.

Hayden would be better.

talonofthehawks · 28/08/2017 12:23

Neither

Turquoise0wl · 28/08/2017 12:27

@talonofthehawks - I'm guessing you don't know how threads work? It's bizarre to reply with an answer that isn't available. It's like going on a "Jack or Henry?" thread and saying Oliver.

I like Hayden/Haydn, OP.

Mammadragon · 28/08/2017 12:30

It really pisses me off when people come on threads just to be plain rude. If you don't like something and your opinion hasn't been asked for scroll on past! I bet none of these MNetters would dare to be so rude in real life. Rant over. I prefer Hayden myself :)

Creatureofthenight · 28/08/2017 12:30

Hayden if that's how you want it to be pronounced. I'd always pronounce Haydn like the composer.

TidyDancer · 28/08/2017 16:35

Haydn is nicer, but pronounced the same as Hayden.

Mightybanhammer · 28/08/2017 18:29

Spell it correctly and you'll have a composer!

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2017 18:30

I'd go with Hayden for ease of spelling.
