Middle name for Rowan (girl)

We've found out we're having a little girl. Although I was firstly set on Rowan for a boy, I really have fallen in love with it for a girl.

My partner isn't 100% as he thinks it's too masculine , but I'm working on him!

Our surname is two syllables (rhymes with Dalton) so I'm thinking we need a really girly one syllable name to make it flow.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thank you!

Agree Rowan Olivia flows beautifully. I love it for boys and girls. Our DS was a Rowan until I decided he didn't look like one. But I'm sure it'll suit your dd.

Rowan Elise flows beautifully.

How are you pronoucing it? May effect which middle names go better. The females I know tend to use Rowan with row as in arguement, or ouch. The males I know (to be fair only Rowan Williams and Rowan Atkinson) tend to be Rowan as in row a boat, or (fish) roe.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/09/2017 11:58

Ottilia

Cagliostro · 13/09/2017 12:06

I'll still be using Row as in boat, I think I read somewhere that the Row as in argument is more commonly used for girls in Scotland? But I may have imagined it.

I have only ever met boys and girls with the boat version myself (SE England)

BigGlasses · 13/09/2017 16:58

Ah, I'm in Scotland, which might explain the 'Row argument' pronouciation. I love both.

rainbowduck · 13/09/2017 18:26

I love Rowan. It was on my list.

There's a girl at my daughter's nursery called Rowanne, which I think is pretty. There's also a couple of (male) Rowans
