Thoughts on name and surname with the same letter

Hi

Is it weird having first name and surname with the same letter .. e.g.
Dylan Dillie
Niall Norman etc etc
? Not sure if I'm over thinking?
Thanks.

For some names it works, for others it doesn't (like any name).

For example, my surname is Lee: Lillian Lee would work, but Lily Lee wouldn't.

I don't think Dylan Dillie or Niall Norman work, for what it's worth.

TurquoiseOwl · 14/08/2017 23:30

So many people do, but I just couldn't.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/08/2017 23:35

I adore alliliterative names Grin

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 14/08/2017 23:42

I agree with SuperBeagle, it depends on the combination of names.

Scotstar · 14/08/2017 23:43

Our son due in September is going to have the initials AA. I like it but wasn't deliberate, just love the first name

BackforGood · 14/08/2017 23:45

Agree with others that it depends on the individual names - plenty would be fine, others sound a bit odd. However I think that's the same with lots of name combinations.

kingfishergreen · 14/08/2017 23:49

It depends whether your birthing a baby or a SUPERHERO.

We were put off Clara (our surname starts with a 'Cla' sound) and deemed it a bit too superhero.

All-in-all, I like a bit of alliteration - but our two names were just a bit too samey-samey.

BikeRunSki · 14/08/2017 23:59

I generally really like it, but have always wondered what the parents of Ronnie Rennie (boy in my form at secondary school) were on.

mrsnolasco · 15/08/2017 00:01

My DD is Fl Fl 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn't realise until we registered her but because of the other letters it doesn't sound to bad. My name also begins with F. Again didn't realise.

SuburbanRhonda · 15/08/2017 00:27

There was a character called Barry Barry in Waterloo Road Grin

Sophronia · 15/08/2017 00:35

I like alliterative names!

Tilapia · 15/08/2017 00:38

Agree it depends on the combination. I'd tend to avoid it though.

BrutusMcDogface · 15/08/2017 00:39

My dd has alliterative names and it works very well! Totally depends on the names, as pps have said.

Ohmyfuck · 15/08/2017 00:42

It's fine.

chowmeinchick · 15/08/2017 16:20

It depends. Some are okay. Some aren't.

MammieBear · 15/08/2017 16:36

I'd say your over thinking it sometimes it can work well.

thinking12 · 15/08/2017 16:37

My husbands initials are the same.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/08/2017 19:49

I love alliterative names too, but Dylan Dillie 😂
What did you have in mind ?

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 16/08/2017 19:53

I have an alliterative name, but because the vowels and rhythm of the names are different it's fine.

Dylan Dillie would be awful, Dylan Davidson would be ok.

MikeUniformMike · 16/08/2017 21:08

Florence Fletcher sounds nice
Lily Lee is cute but ...
Chloe Clarke or Clara Clarke are too much but Caroline Clarke sounds pretty.

It depends on the combination

Stanley Stanton is OK.

mistermagpie · 16/08/2017 21:11

My DS has alliterative name (two Ms) and I genuinely didn't even notice until he was a few months old! He has a different surname to me so I think I sort of 'forgot' what his surname was in my post natal haze. I now think it's quite cool, but certainly not something I would spend any time thinking about.

LarkDescending · 16/08/2017 21:21

Totally depends. It's a no from me to Dylan Dillie - but I know a Harry Hughes, Rupert Reed and Sarah Snow, all of which work fine.

AtiaoftheJulii · 16/08/2017 21:33

Just adding to the yes, if the names aren't too samey it's fine. My eldest has an alliterative name although her two names sound very dissimilar so I think it's ok - and in fact her first name has a repeated consonant sound so there are three in a row, like Susan Sarandon.

Allthebestnamesareused · 16/08/2017 21:37

Millie Mackintosh was on MIC
Robert Redford
Danny Devito
Amy Adams
Brigitte Bardot

Charlie Chaplin
Doris Day
Emilio Estevez
Hugh Hefner
Kim Kardashian
Ozzy Osbourne
Steven Spielberg

They have all coped with their alliterative names.

I like them!

Alexandra87 · 16/08/2017 22:30

I'm an AA only after marriage but I'd never even noticed until just now
