A French version of Sam? Or is it used in France?

A silly question maybe. My other two children have French names. Sam is a name that means something to my family. But it almost feels like it won't "go" as Samuel.

Or is Samuel / Sam used in France? Or is there another Sam full name alternative? (If that makes sense.)

(My mother was French, so there's at least some connection!)

My other two are Ines and Elodie.

Samuel sounds nice in French. I looked it up (also considering it for similar reasons) and it's more popular in Quebec than in France. I've personally only met French Canadian Sams but it doesn't read super Quebec to me.

Agree that many Samuels I know are Jewish. Have had two Samis in my class (also Jewish).

I know a Samuel who has a very French surname. I think it sounds nice.

The French version of Agnes is Agnès, pronounced Annie-esse.
