Oooh i like that too calilark

SuperBeagle · 19/07/2017 22:58

Just remembered that Cindy Crawford has a daughter named Kaia. This spelling. I think that's why it seems more intuitive to me.

Don't mind Caia though.

DramaAlpaca · 19/07/2017 22:59

Kaia

missfussypants · 19/07/2017 23:08

not a fan of caia for some reasonHmmits lovely but think i prefer the K spellings

Kaya looks nicer, and it should be pronounced this way. A pp explained how this is a known African name.

People saying this should be said as kay -a to rhyme with layer are quite simply wrong. (Just like when they try to pronounce 'Maya' the same way).

Imspartacusforreal · 20/07/2017 08:47

Hahahahahaha in some ways I like it and in some ways I realise it's a bit ridiculous

missfussypants · 20/07/2017 09:03

ims, how is it ridiculous?Shock

Have you decided op?

missfussypants · 20/07/2017 09:26

Afuna, not yet will be between Kaia and Kaya though. I wouldn't want Kaya to get Kay... but can't decide which spelling i prefer

OP posts:
AfunaMbatata · 20/07/2017 09:42

Go for Kaya, you know it's the right choice Grin

kaayyyaaaa>

missfussypants · 20/07/2017 10:21

i think i prefer the look of Kaia at the moment.

if someone was to say:

my name is "kye ah"

how would you spell it? As want to go for one that will be less hassle to say / spell etc

Hiya!

RueDeDay · 20/07/2017 14:00

I know a little 'Caja' pronounced that way... It's Cornish for Daisy.

missfussypants · 20/07/2017 19:23

LinaBo · 20/07/2017 19:30

I have one in my Brownies, spelt Kaia.

MyNewBearTotoro · 20/07/2017 22:27

If someone said their name was 'Kye ah' I would spell it Kya but maybe that's because how the only one I know spells it.

I don't think either Kaya or Kaia are necessarily obvious or genetic spellings from someone who didn't already know the name but I think Kaia is better of the two and less likely to be said 'Kay.'

missfussypants · 21/07/2017 11:31

hmm i'm thinking that too Mynew

MikeUniformMike · 21/07/2017 17:10

I wouldn't use Caja. It's Kay-ya or Kay-ja, and would probably get Cadger or Kah-ja too. And it's Spanish for box.

MirabelleTree · 21/07/2017 20:20

If someone says their name is 'Kye ah' a lot of people spell it as Kia. People aren't going to get it right so go for what you prefer.

MirabelleTree · 21/07/2017 20:21

And a lot of people will read Kaia as Kia.

grasspigeons · 21/07/2017 20:27

I would read both those as kay-uh but would only need to be told I was wrong once and would see why. Kyah ?

flickerty · 21/07/2017 20:29

Kiya.

missfussypants · 21/07/2017 20:43

i think i might have to go with something a bit simpler... Other choice is Summer. Thoughts?

OP posts:
AfunaMbatata · 21/07/2017 20:46

Summer is lovely! (And you won't come across as illiterate to those who know "kaya" as a name!)

missfussypants · 21/07/2017 21:18

afuna, good point!
