Thoughts as a shortening with a more traditional name on BC-let's not be too unkind though please ladies.

It's a good name - and having the full name on the BC gives you options.

I love it. Have you decided on the longer name for BC yet? I like it as a shortening for Elizabeth or Josephine (but if I had the nerve I would go for Persephone or Elphaba.)

A beanbag😂😂 that possibly makes me love it more! Basically I wanted to call her Effie but aware she will need a more 'sensible' name for job applications and stuff so it's between Elizabeth Ann and Evelyn Rosa (nn Effie) both I have seen as legitimate 'official' names for Effie x

I love Effie as a nickname (and really enjoyed reading Effi Briest fwiw). I think it would work beautifully as a nickname for Elizabeth or Evelyn.

Effy from Skins was a nn for Elizabeth, I believe.

I knew a Stephanie who was "Steffy" and it morphed into "Effy" over time.

I'm an Elizabeth and have never heard of Effie as a shortening

It's a shortening of Euphemia traditionally

I have done extensive research into this😂🙈 it's not your 'traditional' shortening but isn't unheard of. I'm not a fan of Euphemia unfortunately xx
