I never hear this used anymore. Is it awful or does it deserve a comeback?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TurquoiseOwl · 12/07/2017 02:43

I like it - Timmy is also cute for a kid. I don't know why more people don't like it on here.

SuperBeagle · 12/07/2017 02:47

I don't like it. It's outdated:

emesis · 12/07/2017 02:49

I think it's a great classic name! If you'd said Barry I might think it's dated but Timothy is still good.

GinAndGooseberry · 12/07/2017 02:51

I like it.

WhistlerGrey · 12/07/2017 03:44

Love it - and I think it's one of the few names that are nice in all it's forms. Tim/Timmy/Timothy.

NikiBabe · 12/07/2017 04:06

I like it.

Tim is a great name on a teen and then a man.

EmMcK · 12/07/2017 04:59

Oh no. Tim Tim, nice but dim is all I can think off. And Timmy is the name of the dog.

daisychicken · 12/07/2017 07:14

We love it Wink

pp's rhyme has never entered anyone's head nor has anything been said by anyone else.

I think its such an unusual name for today's kids, we've met lots of adult Tim's but never another young Tim.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 12/07/2017 07:20

Love it

SarahJonesS · 12/07/2017 09:41

I really love it but Timmy was my childhood dogs name so don't feel I could ever use it.

SunshineHQ · 12/07/2017 10:18

I love it. It didn't even occur to me when we were choosing baby names (DS is now 10!) or it would definitely have made the shortlist.

Justhadmyhaircut · 12/07/2017 10:18

Timmy is a sheep. . .

SunshineHQ · 12/07/2017 10:20

We did look at a lot of similar names (traditional names that people would know how to spell, but were currently out of favour)
Andrew
Peter
John
Christopher
David
Robert
Etc...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/07/2017 10:28

Sorry, I'm not keen.

Onedaysoooon · 12/07/2017 10:29

Old fashioned and a bit wet.

ClashCityRocker · 12/07/2017 10:43

Ruined by the god-awful south park for me. I know a Timothy my age and all through secondary and beyond he got Tim-EHHHH.

TurquoiseOwl · 12/07/2017 10:43

What the hell is a 'wet' name? Confused

MrsMint · 12/07/2017 11:31

Tims are always nice! I saw something amusing recently written by a Tim who said you'll always find a Tim "hanging around in chunky jumpers making small talk about the weather."

user1486956786 · 12/07/2017 11:45

Ok my old dad is a Timothy, but I was thinking the other day I really like it for all ages and all nicknames. Timmy very cute for a baby and young boy :-)

MammieBear · 12/07/2017 11:50

I like it but there is a children's program with a lamb called Timmy which is rather irritating, besides that it's a lovely name I put it in the same category as Nicholas.

Scrumpington · 12/07/2017 13:01

A million times NO. Timothy is the drippiest name imaginable. I’ve met a fair few men called Tim in my time, not one of them has ever gone by the full Timothy. I don't blame them a bit.

Buddyelf · 12/07/2017 13:06

I'm sorry I don't like it I'm afraid. As ClashCityRocker said - all I hear when I hear that name is Tim-EHHHH, south park ruined it for me.

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 12/07/2017 13:08

A bit Tory M.P. for me.

Notmyrealname85 · 12/07/2017 13:10

Eesh I know a Tim who is always on the go and dynamic and sexy as hell... so I might be biased!

Great name - aren't enough names (as above), Davids, Roberts etc

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 12/07/2017 13:10

I know a lovely 2yo Timmy, who isn't at all drippy, but it still says 'nice but dim' to me.
