Elizabeth

Elizabeth. Can be shortened to so many different things - I know an Eliza, Liza, Eli, Liz, Lizzie and a Beth (all with Elizabeth on birth certificate).

HopeAndJoy16 · 10/07/2017 14:58

Elizabeth! I prefer the nn Beth to Liz/Lizzie/Liza x

I only really like the nickname Eliza from Elizabeth and as opposed to Liz etc which i don't really like..

Elizabeth. It sounds softer and more feminine.

You can always use the nickname Eliza if you want to - that way your daughter will have the option of using both names.

Ginmummy1 · 10/07/2017 15:15

My daughter (aged 6) is an Elizabeth, and we are not keen on most of the nicknames either (I agree that Eliza is lovely, but some good friends have an Eliza so it's not really an option for us).

At the moment we have chosen to keep calling her Elizabeth, but we're aware that she (or her friends!) may choose to shorten her name. We have our preferences but that choice can be hers.

Perhaps you could call her Elizabeth on her birth certificate, but actually refer to her as Eliza from day 1, thus hopefully cementing this name, but allowing her wider options in future with a 'full' name of Elizabeth.

Either is lovely (but I would say that, wouldn't I?)

I prefer Elizabeth, but if you don't like any of the other nicknames I think you should go with Eliza. The Elizabeths I know are shortened to Libby or Beth.

Gin, that's a good idea - Call her Eliza but put Elizabeth on BC as it seems more complete?

If you don't like any of the other nns for Elizabeth, then it might be best to go with Eliza.

demirose87 · 10/07/2017 16:15

My DD is an Eliza. Beautiful classic name. It has the same meaning as elizabeth but is a name in itself. meaning promised by god.

Jooni · 10/07/2017 17:22

I love Eliza

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/07/2017 18:10

Elizabeth.

SuperBeagle · 10/07/2017 20:09

Elizabeth. I am one; it's much nicer than Eliza 😏

But she will get Liz/Lizzy at some point in her life.

TeaBelle · 10/07/2017 20:12

Eliza - my dd is Eliza come join the club! I have a long name that I hate, such a pain in the are when starting new jobs to ask for my email etc to be set up in my short name. As such we made a conscious decision to pick the name we will use rather than a completely redundant long name ’for best’.

Eliza. It's going to DDs name when she's born, despite what DP thinks!

lucyintheskye · 10/07/2017 23:12

right now i am swaying towards just Eliza, but knowing me that will changeWink
