Still shifting through baby names if it's a girl! My DH is Irish and he wants an Irish name if it's a girl, and I think Irish names are lovely anyways so that not a problem for me. How do you feel about this name? We are thinking Aisling and I live that name but just wanting to keep out options open. In case you're not certain in the pronunciation Its Dervla. Thank you! xx

Every Aisling I met was pronounced Ash-ling, and I've met 2 Ashleens but that's obviously a different name

I think some accents (Limerick in particular) make Aislinn sound like Aisling/Ashling, coupled with Ashling having been so popular for so long.

Harper I like both of those
What about
Dearbhla Beatrice
Dearbhla Sinead
Dearbhla Marie
Dearbhla Lauren
Dearbhla Maeve
Dearbhla Aisling
Dearbhla Caroline
Dearbhla Aoibheann
Dearbhla Jessica Eilidh is lovely in my books but I'm a pretentious bitch who likes two middle names. Wink

Ooh I forgot about Jessica that's so pretty! xx

I think Jessica is a lovely, underrated middle name.

Laladog · 10/07/2017 02:24

Both Dearbhla Jessica and Dearbhla Amanda sound lovely

Laladog · 10/07/2017 02:30

And Aisling Eilidh is gorgeous

Sorry OP that i helped to hijack your thread with loads of questions about Irish spelling!

Dearbhla/Dervla is OK, but does seem a bit older to my ears. I have to say I prefer Aisling. Or Roisin (which I think you said you liked on another thread - was that you?) They have lovely meanings, too.

27Harper · 10/07/2017 05:18

Lol it's no problem. Yes that was indeed me I do love the name Róisín also (can't forget the fadas people get mad). I'm going for a scan later today just to check everything's ok so we won't know the gender yet. After all this caffufle I bet it's a boy 😂 xx

Smile All the best with your scan!

Have you got names worked out if it IS a boy?

Can't do fadas, or any kind of accent, don't know how - perhaps I shouldn't try as I'll get confused with that next!. I just about manage with the smileys and bold, and doing links.

27Harper · 10/07/2017 07:17

Thanks hun! So far we have Sam, Cooper and Alex if it's a boy (not very Irish I suppose) I can't do the fadas on my laptop, just my phone so you're not the only one lol xx

I really like Sam and Alex. Not so much Cooper - as I am quite a bit older than you (well I must be) I am not really into the surname for first names thing, but I know it's popular.

27Harper · 10/07/2017 07:28

Im actually 87, medical technology has gone a long way 😂. It's my least fave of the 3. I just liked the idea of nicknaming him Coop because it makes him sound like a Cupid lol xx

Laladog · 10/07/2017 08:59

Lol! @27Harper 😂

mathanxiety · 11/07/2017 05:45

Just FYI, it has been my observation that boys and dogs named Cooper tend to end up being called Pooper.
