What's the deal? Everyone is thinking of names and nicknames. Don't they just come naturally? Iv never thought of making my kids nicknames before they've even been born or iv got to know their little character and personality. So yeah thoughts?

And I'm not talking about the people who say oh possible NN would be...

I mean the ones who go and NN would be 'whatever'

I nn'd my dd 'bean' the first time I saw her on an early scan (7 weeks) and she's been 'bean' ever since. It's nothing to do with her actual name, just something to call her before I knew the sex that stuck! She gets variations of bean too - sprouty bean, sprouts, sprouty, bean shoes, tiny bean etc. Poor dd, I'm sure she thinks bean is her name Blush

Hi candy88, I would say if you love the name Betty, why not just call the baby Betty, but you already have her
Isabella is a form of Elizabeth as it Betty, so it makes sense. I don't like Izzy but I do like Lizzie. Libby and Bessie work with Isabella too but Betty is great.

I went to school with a Bean, short for Sabina! Grin

People can try to get Betsy, Libby etc. as much as they like, but people will continue to assume Liz/Lizzy is fine.

My son is called Joseph, but no-one calls him that because no-one really knows, everyone just knows him as his shortening.
