Erin - it's my daughters name we chose it because it was a "normal" name however not overly common

@AlexisPope it was a question that had to be copied :), in all seriousness we've been looking for a middle name for dd2 and think 1 syllable names tend to 'flow' better with our surname. Also, DD1 has a four letter middle name so wanted to match :)

Nell definitely seems to be very popular, absolutely love it and we were going to use as a first name but thought it sounded a bit incomplete, not sure it flows well as a second name.
