want to go for the name sienna but with a second name
It's either sienna ishani , sienna vaani
We are of Indian back origin. Any thoughts on either??

Sorry to be Debbie Downer but I think giving obviously Indian children Western/ Christian names is very wannabe. A full-on Anglo name is more than a twist. Sianna would be a twist. Just my opinion.

I mean it was our choice if DS WASNT a boy! Too much prosecco last night 😂

Crewlife · 01/07/2017 09:48

@smitff the name sianna has a Hindi/Punjabi connection meaning wise person 😀

Priya? Imani?

Crewlife · 02/07/2017 09:13

Tinypop4 , hello!! . Do you mean those names as alternates or as second one to sienna ??

Sianna Kishori? Ishani is also lovely.

I've always like the names Asha and Veda but they don't really flow with Sienna/Sianna IMO.

Crewlife · 03/07/2017 14:51

@drinkmilkandkickass ( love the name lol)
They are Stand alone names, agree with you. While searching for names I came across ANANYA in Sanskrit means one of a kind . Got me thinking . But that would be single not as a second one to sienna/sianna

Sorry op I meant as second to Sienna!

Crewlife · 03/07/2017 17:10

I know an Anaia - beautiful name and wish I could use it!

Crewlife · 03/07/2017 23:46

That's a lovely name similar sounding to ananya. @bibs2014

I like Sienna Ishani.

I considered Anaya for my little girl (pronounced the same as Anaia I think?) but in Sanskrit means “bad conduct, misfortune or adversity" so I had to avoid it.

Crewlife · 04/07/2017 07:20

@blueroses99 good thing that you researched the name meaning .
Ty for your suggestion. Btw what name did you end up going for??

OP posts:
Bibs2014 · 04/07/2017 09:43

I didn't realise that it had that meaning, blue!

Blueroses99 · 05/07/2017 02:27

@crewlife I chose Aviana. It means "bearer of good news" and she is our rainbow baby so it seemed to fit. Also in Latin it means "little bird", and as she was so premature when she was born we often thought she resembled a little bird.

@bibs2014 my family speak a language pretty close to Sanskrit and once I'd seen the meaning I realised that I'd heard the word in conversation used in negative context so there would be no getting away with it!

CremeFresh · 05/07/2017 02:38

Ishani is lovely! I also like Vaishali .

Crewlife · 05/07/2017 07:03

@blueroses what a lovely name

Sienna in Hindi/Punjabi is wise person but in its masculine form. So a bit weird imo for a girl.

Crewlife · 05/07/2017 07:59

Good morning @ineedafriend.
Good point , but taken the spelling sia' has connection to Sita as in ram and sita. Hence the choice it's all down to the meaning in each culture . E.g. In Irish / Gaelic it's gods grace
