What do we think? I've always liked it -it was my favourite name as a teen, but hadn't seriously considered it for any of my actual babies. But now DH (who never suggests any names) has thrown a curve ball and suggested it for this baby. We can never agree on anything so I feel bound to consider it now!

So what do you all think? And any middle name thoughts? I'd quite like a saints name if there are any that go...

I can bear not having a middle name for a while if we can sort first name, but it's bound to be a boy now...but we already had boy name sorted.

I looove this name! It was the name of a character it the book ' White Oleander' and I thought it was fabulous. I live in rural Ireland and just feel the name wouldn't fit in here, my family would drive me nuts telling me it's 'unusual' etc so I doubt I will ever use it but it's one of my dream names. Go for it please!!!!

Beautiful name

Synecdoche · 25/06/2017 22:29

I adore it.

BattyBagshot · 25/06/2017 22:34

Sureitsgrand - DH's family will be like this, but they got over our DD1's name, so I'm sure they can again...they always accuse me of being the one who picks the outlandish names, but it's their son who always suggests them!

Lovely name.

Sophronia · 26/06/2017 00:40

I know one who gets called Asti.

Thatextrainch · 26/06/2017 07:27

Very high on my list for any future child. Although I disagree about mispronounciation by a pp. In the UK we would pronounce it as Ass-trid but I have Swedish friends who say it's Ars-strid. Happy to be corrected though Grin

Letmesleepalready · 26/06/2017 07:31

It was on my list for both DDs but got vetoed twice by DH...

Lemondrop99 · 26/06/2017 07:40

I really like Astrid but DH vetoed it. I know a little Astrid who has no Scandi heritage (not an issue) and has never been called Ass!

Unadon · 26/06/2017 14:35

I know 2 Astrids - one in her 20s, and another in her 50s (working for the same firm too in the same branch so what are the odds). It's a pretty enough name and ages well so I'd say go for it!

Namechange2837 · 26/06/2017 14:42

It makes me think of asteroid - sorry!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 26/06/2017 17:23

I really dislike it (sorry). I won't tell you what it reminds me of. It isn't nice.

MoonHare · 26/06/2017 17:35

I like it. Not fussy. It's unusual.

hollyisalovelyname · 26/06/2017 17:37

Lovely. I knew an Astrid. She was pretty and nice. Smile

BattyBagshot · 26/06/2017 18:08

That's ok decaf, but now I really need to now what it reminds you of!

I love it. I still hope to have a girl one day and use it, but my partner will need some convincing Sad our son's name is Scandinavian sounding too so it would work beautifully!
