Simple classic names to go with long 'i' surname

We have a long, 4 syllable surname beginning with the sound 'eve' (but spelt with an i)

We like classic and simple names which will be sweet but suit a child into adulthood, but are restricted to ones that don't run into the vowel sound at the start of our surname - for example Ellie 'Eve......' would be hard to say to get between the 'ie' and the 'eve' sounds

I like Alice as although it ends in a vowel I don't think this is too tricky as it doesn't have the 'ey'/'ie' sound that lots of girls' names have. But I have heard of so many baby Alice's recently - it seems every other baby girl I hear of is called Alice! I may still use it though... I also like Anna, Annie, Lucy, Emma... but vowel end problems! Don't mind a vintage twist if subtle

Likewise for boys we've always liked Oliver but this is so popular! Also like Ben, James...

Any ideas would be really helpful - particularly less common ones but still classic. Help me think outside the box!

Thank you!

Alice ends in a vowel, but not a vowel sound. If Alice were commonly spelt Alys (the Welsh way), the vowel ending would not cross your mind.

Thank you for all the ideas everyone, keep them coming!

Have been mulling Hazel over...

For me Alison is the obvious alternative to Alice - three syllables but doesn't sound "long" to my ear.

MikeUniformMike · 29/06/2017 19:33

I really don't like Hazel. I would avoid names ending in 'a' to avoid the joining 'r'.
Let's say your surname is Eve. Anna Eve would be said Anna Reeve.
I would avoid names ending in 'r' for the same reason.

No suggestions, but Oliver is our boys choice, and Alice or Annie is our girls. Find it wonderful when other people have similar name choices! Grin

Wow that's cool - and I also quite like Chris Pratt's face!
