Why do I seem so attracted to dairy brands as names.... Hmm

I like Arla, a lot, have just thought of it today, and OH surprisingly liked it too.

I also like Flora an awful lot, and OH likes it but is put off as it's very s

oops!

...very similar to one of his old friends daughters name (they aren't close though)

Have I been brainwashed by marketing or something?? Confused

Arla's cute! We've been considering Arlington for our boy :)

leannejade · 20/06/2017 18:33

I did immediately think "dairy", so depends if that bothers you.

I also wonder if it might get misheard as Orla a lot, as Orla seems to be quite popular now.

Other than that it's quite nice.

Llamacorn · 20/06/2017 18:36

It looks very pretty and I like it, but it sounds awful with my accent if I'm honest, I sound like I can't pronounce Orla! May sound nice for normal speaking people Grin
What about Cora?

5BlueHydrangea · 20/06/2017 18:36

Arla is pretty but people might thinks its Isla..

LittleWitch · 20/06/2017 18:37

It's a yoghurt isn't it? Not that that matters, necessarily.

RoseVase2010 · 20/06/2017 18:39

Clover?
Bertolli?
😂😂

MarvinKMooney · 20/06/2017 18:42

I immediately thought of Arla foods who produce a lot of dairy products. Not sure if they make Flora though ...Wink

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 20/06/2017 18:42

Lurpak?Grin

Is Arya any good?

MrsHathaway · 20/06/2017 18:43

I don't like Arla at all as I only know it as a dairy brand. Is it really a name? Am I living in a bubble? Similar sound to girls' names I don't much like such as Carla or Darla. I don't see the attraction.

Flora on the other hand has lots of provenance as a strong girl's name centuries before it was slapped on margarine tubs. I definitely think little girl before spread nowadays. Fabulous name.

Activia?
Skyr? very now

Names I think sound or feel similar (you seem to be avoiding very girly names and very common names and the -ie names):

Scarlet
Helena
Pippa

Yogagirl123 · 20/06/2017 18:46

Arla sounds nice or Aria? Flora is a lovely but all the jokes about margarine would put me off.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/06/2017 19:52

Ayla ?

villainousbroodmare · 20/06/2017 19:54

I much prefer Orla, Flora or Arya.

terrylene · 20/06/2017 20:02

Clover
Koko
Rachel
Kerrygold
Insigny
Echire (very upmarket Wink)

Nonameyet1 · 20/06/2017 20:04

Not really for me but love Flora!

disneykid · 20/06/2017 20:07

Why not go for Utterly-Butterly?

SingaSong12 · 20/06/2017 20:08

My immediate thought was the dairy.

CherriesInTheSnow · 20/06/2017 20:18

I've gone off it now! Grin

I don't like the similar sounding names either, but do still like Flora :)

I love Evie very much, but Eva is my middle name!

Flora is lovely. Way nicer than Arla Smile.

terrylene · 20/06/2017 20:26

Flora is nice. It has context outside of the margarine world.

(I wonder if Fauna will catch on Hmm)

terrylene · 20/06/2017 20:27

You could try Florence, and call her Flora for short Grin

SaltySalt · 20/06/2017 20:29

What about i can't believe it's not arla?
