DD wants to name DGS this name. NN Robbie. I've never heard it?

Yes, it's a surname. I've only come across it in lowland Scotland where it was a phonetic spelling of the way Robertson was pronounced, but it's probably more widely used than that. There are also plenty of examples of it as a first name in the Scottish records.

Looks like a misspelling of either Robinson or Robson to me. Both of which are surnames.

However, a quick google shows that it IS a name, if not commonly used (but still a surname): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robison_(name)

Looks like a misspelling. I've never heard of it.

It's a not-that-unusual surname (Shona Robison is an MSP) and there is a writer Robison Wells born 1978 (see wiki).

There's a famous potter called Jim Robison, so its not a misspelling, just unusual. I personally don't like surnames as first names but that's just me

Robert or Robin (Robbie), would be better.

AdalindSchade · 17/06/2017 20:56

What's wrong with Robson?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/06/2017 21:12

Yes, or Robson.

To be fair, the OP is the grandmother. She doesn't get a say!

blahthisistoohard · 18/06/2017 01:39

No not a name!

bridgetreilly · 18/06/2017 10:02

No, it isn't.
