I love the name Oscar
Surname starts with Os as well
Is that too matchy or could it work?

Depends. Could sound fantastic.

MollyHuaCha · 13/06/2017 13:15

But it will give the initials OO. A lifetime of 'Oooooh!' Blush

WutheringFrights · 13/06/2017 13:16

Middle name Xavier please Grin

StinkPickle · 13/06/2017 13:24

Does your partner/husband have a different surname? Maybe consider using his instead? (Or yours instead if the O name is his)

mummytobemaybe · 13/06/2017 13:24

Stink pickle- that is his surname

OP posts:
LadyFuchsiaGroan · 13/06/2017 13:26

Yes to Xavier as a midle name Grin

StinkPickle · 13/06/2017 13:29

Just use yours then if it flows better.

29Palms · 13/06/2017 14:37

No, it doesn't work as the R at the end of Oscar will get carried over to the O of the surname, and it will all sound like one word.

IndianaMoleWoman · 13/06/2017 14:44

What like Oscar Osman? Sounds fine to me.

UsernameInvalid66 · 13/06/2017 16:20

I know someone with initials OO. She's only about 10 but I've never heard of anyone teasing her about it. Until I read your comment I'd actually thought more about the fact that those initials also stand for olive oil than the "ooh" factor.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/06/2017 17:09

Oscar Oswald would be an awesome name

n0ne · 13/06/2017 17:21

I like alliteration, personally. Think it makes a name strong and memorable.

Starlight2345 · 13/06/2017 17:23

My DS's name is an aliteration..He was delighted when he discovered this.

Stef18 · 13/06/2017 17:37

My DH and I are going for an alliteration name (FF) - we love the name, and sounds cool!

Oh, nothing wrong with alliteration in my book.
It's the end of the first name and start of the surname that's more important. In this case they are going to collide, and the surname will sound like it begins with R.

OscaRosman

BubblesBuddy · 13/06/2017 18:25

You could put in another name and use it. Oscar Joe, Oscar John, Oscar Sam etc. It breaks the sounds up.

mummytobemaybe · 13/06/2017 18:35

It's not just alliteration the name starts with 'Os' and the surname starts with 'Os'

Yeah, it's like Louis and Hughes or William Williams that sound a bit silly.

I also know a few kids called Josh Jones which I think sounds a bit daft.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/06/2017 18:46

I think alliterative names can be brilliant , but can also be ^painfully awkward. Try sounding it out and see how you feel, maybe ask a few trusted friends for their opinion?

StinkPickle · 16/06/2017 07:31

So why not use your surname instead? As the mother of her child, equal parent and one who is growing and delivering him?

handonhip · 16/06/2017 12:28

I think something like Oscar Osborne sounds great, OP!

I like alliteration generally. As PP said, it's memorable.

CiderwithBuda · 16/06/2017 12:32

I think it works. Go for it.

blahthisistoohard · 16/06/2017 22:49

I think it sounds great, go for it!
