What else would I like? Just found out that DC2 is a girl. I love Eliza but DP isn't convinced. Middle name will be Jane & surname is 3 syllables, quite unusual. DS is Rory so looking for something similar in structure, 2 syllables, don't really want anything that can be shortened.

Thanks for the suggestions, some great ones in there. There are also a lot of those names I can't use as friends / family have already used them.

My other favourite is Iona, what do people think of that? I do have Scottish heritage, Rory was going to be the Gaelic version & spelling but then he'd spend his whole life having to spell his name out so decided against it.

Yes, I like Iona, very nice.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 13/06/2017 18:54

Iona is lovely, regardless of heritage, but it is nice that it would be a name which has meaning for you because of your Scottish links. I far prefer it to Eliza, if I'm honest.

Bestseller2017 · 13/06/2017 19:56

Yes prefer Iona and it goes nicely with Rory.

Jenniferturkington · 13/06/2017 19:58

I nearly named dd2 Eliza- she is Josephine.

I love Eliza too but dh is not convinced either. Watching this thread for names people suggest too Smile

I love Iona, much more than Eliza.
What about?

Ailsa
Megan
Ada
Una

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2017 19:11

I like Eliza.
Iona is OK but don't use it if your surname could also be a noun.
Iona Gunn, Iona Carr, Iona Wood, etc.

Topsyloulou · 14/06/2017 22:12

Thanks for the comments & suggestions. There is no way the surname could ever be described as a noun so think we're safe on that score but that has never occurred to me.

We have 4 hour car journey to do on Saturday & Sunday so I'm going to make DP discuss names with me. Think I'm leaning more to Iona now but haven't mentioned it to DP at all yet. We have plenty of time to make a decision but DP doesn't like to be rushed & also likes to think things are his idea. He chose Rory the morning I was induced despite discounting it 4 months previously! I was very happy as it had always been one of my favourites.

I also love the name Iona, the prettiest girl in our school was called Iona. I haven't met once since, so it's not too common.

RuthB4 · 15/06/2017 04:59

Iona is beautiful! Good luck working on DH!

TheDowagerCuntess · 15/06/2017 05:01

Iona is fabulous - good luck!
