Hi i know these names are not to everyone's taste but we are after a name that is more "nicknamey" like these aboveGrin(we might have a longer name on BC depending on the name)

Would love more suggestions Grin

I think calling your child a nickname like this may come across a bit try hard Made In Chelsea...

Having said that, I do like many of the suggestions, especially Emmy 's suggestions.

MycatsaPirate · 12/06/2017 13:36

Twins called Pixie and Dixie? FFS!

And Binky? Really?

Just no.

poppyoo · 12/06/2017 13:42

NoCapes I'd assume Dilly was the NN of a Lydia, Delilah or Lavender.

MMXV · 12/06/2017 13:44

Pixie McKenna is Bernadette IRL, MyCat

TheNumberfaker · 12/06/2017 13:46

I had one of those nicknames until I started secondary school. Then I chose to use my real name even though it is equally as horrible, but in a fuddyduddy kind of way. With no middle name. If you are going to do this, please have at least one name on the BC that's middle of the road.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 12/06/2017 13:48

Dd1 17yrs went to school with a Bumble Bea which was nn of either Beatrice or Beatrix(I can't remember which).

stuntcamel · 12/06/2017 13:56

Some of these names sound like the list at the pet rescue shelter where they are having to name a sudden influx of dozens of small furry things, and they have run out of imagination Grin

NoCapes · 12/06/2017 14:02

Ooo MyBoots you've just reminded me, I know a little girl called Honey Bea, except that's the poor little mites actual name

Dilly is just Silly though

These are so excruciatingly try-hard

No matter how desperate you are to be perceived as upper middle class, a cutesy nickname won't do it, even it is copying the nickname of someone in the public eye because you are too dense to realise it is a nickname.

I know a Tiggy, who's parents thought it was a real name because of Tiggy Legge-Bourke (real name: Alexandra) and she hates it
I know someone else who goes by Dizzy for pretty much everything, but is still able to put Isabelle on her CV and in her email addresses because she said she would be unemployable in her chosen field if her actual name was Dizzy

poppyoo · 12/06/2017 14:08

Woah spare that's a little harsh. In no way am i trying to be percieved as middle class, i even said that Binky is not a name we are considering it was just an example of names we like. AND i said if it is not an acceptable name we will use a full name on BC as well, so i really don't see how i am denseConfused

Talulah can be shortened to tallie and lula

QueenMortificado · 12/06/2017 14:15

I love these types of names. But they always have a much more formal long name and are just nicknames which have evolved over time.

Some really harsh comments here. Would be very boring if we all liked the same things wouldn't it.

sparechange · 12/06/2017 14:21

Sorry poppy
It was supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek Blush
I'm not calling you dense, but there are many people (my friend Tiggy's parents included) who actually think Binky was christened Binky, and therefore it would be a good posh name to copy

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2017 14:28

Clemency/Clemintine (Lemmie)

squoosh · 12/06/2017 14:30

Posh types with these names always have a sensible Victoria or Annabel on the birth cert. It's the kind thing to do.

Dolwar · 12/06/2017 14:33

Are you naming a child? Or the newest Teletubby?

FurryTrousers · 12/06/2017 16:11

We sort of used to know a little girl called Mixie.

I wasn't too keen on the name but everyone raved about it!

sparechange · 12/06/2017 16:31

Mixie like the disease that rabbits get that causes their eyes to bulge out and then to die a horrible death?
What a lovely thing to concur up when naming your child!

NennyNooNoo · 12/06/2017 16:36

That was my thought too. Mixie, short for mixematosis (or however you spell it).

AreWeThereYet000 · 12/06/2017 16:37

Florence - Flossie
