What do you think? DH just came up with Belinda. I think it's quite sweet and I like Belle as nn, and we've struggled a lot to agree on any names so have added it to the shortlist. Am aware it's v retro, though, and not making a comeback and some might hate it! Also aware of Belinda Carlisle obvs, though DC's generation won't be.

Omg no 😂 There's a very popular podcast out at the moment call my dad wrote a porno and the subject of the convo is a seductress called Belinda Blinks 😂 That's all I can think of when I hear the name!

SuperBeagle · 12/06/2017 11:04

I don't think enough time has passed for Belinda to be considered "retro". It's in the same league as Kimberly, Diane and Karen.

But it reminds me of a cow, so regardless of its outdatedness, I'm not a fan.

Just no. .

Donttakemeout · 12/06/2017 11:05

Belle yes.
Belinda no.

talkingtofrank · 12/06/2017 11:06

God no, please don't do it to your child!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/06/2017 11:19

Bellender ☹️

Alpanini · 12/06/2017 11:31

Don't listen. It's a lovely name. Got a pall called Belinda - can be shortened to B, Bee, Beazy, Belle. If you love it, go for it.

Gunpowder · 12/06/2017 11:33

I think it's super cute and you're ahead of the curve. Will defo be back in 5/10 years.

Syc4moreTrees · 12/06/2017 11:35

..Blinks

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/06/2017 11:36

I like it shortened to Bill like in 2 point 4 children.

BlondeGinger · 12/06/2017 11:40

Don't like it, sorry. If you like Belle, why not just use that?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 12/06/2017 11:41

I immediately thought "...blinked" but that podcast is unlikely to be remembered in the long term. If you love it, go for it!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 13:02

I think it's nice - makes me think of Belinda Lang. I don't like Belle at all. Makes me think of Belly.

Mothervulva · 12/06/2017 13:04

A Belinda I knew at school got called 'Belinda Bell End'.

TheLegendOfBeans · 12/06/2017 13:06

I like it!

Belinda Carlisle 👍

Redtartanshoes · 12/06/2017 13:11

Have a cousin who is called Belinda.

She got bell-ender all through school.

Fwend · 12/06/2017 13:24

I like it. I think you're probably just a little bit ahead of the popularity curve with it though, so you might get some Hmm faces.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2017 13:28

I quite like it. I prefer Lindy as a nn rather than Belle. Due to its popularity
Yes it isn't coming bsck, but Is that such a bad thing

29Palms · 12/06/2017 14:19

I've only ever known two Belindas.

One was when I was a child, she was several years younger and called "little Lin" by her family. They moved away, so I don't know how she fared when older.

The other was a friend of my mum's. She was always known as Linda, and I never knew her full name was Belinda until she died.

I think it's a lovely name. There is a good choice of shortenings if she feels it's too frilly.

squoosh · 12/06/2017 14:50

I think I prefer Lucinda.

Pemba · 12/06/2017 15:12

It's a pretty name - if you like it, go for it. Some weird reactions on here.

EmmyInTheSticks · 12/06/2017 15:28

I nearly called DD this but everyone else really disliked it. I've lived in Spanish speaking countries though and I think I see it as a pretty, feminine and happy sounding name as it it seen in Latin America. It doesn't seem to have the same vibe over here.

Apparently it is shortened to Billie in English which I don't like at all.

Hairq · 12/06/2017 15:53

Oh, I quite like it. It's really pretty (unlike Brenda which is similar Andy i cant imagine ever coming back)

Sophronia · 13/06/2017 00:28

I think it's quite pretty!

KoalaDownUnder · 13/06/2017 00:31

No. It's awful. Not even pretty in its day, which is well and truly gone.
