Elliot

WhyNotDuckie · 11/06/2017 00:05

Teddy! So cute!

Teddy6767 · 11/06/2017 00:07

Elliot. Teddy sounds more like a pets name

Sophronia · 11/06/2017 00:14

Teddy is cute for a baby and a little boy, but I think a grown man would rather be an Elliot.

DramaAlpaca · 11/06/2017 00:17

Would you consider Edward with the nickname Teddy? I find Teddy cute for a toddler, but that's about it.

If not, Elliot.

BertrandRussell · 11/06/2017 00:19

Edward shortened to Teddy. Lots of choices when he's a grown up and wants a grown up's name.

blahthisistoohard · 11/06/2017 00:30

Elliot! So many 'Teddy's' around and sorry but I just find the idea of a grown man called Teddy ridiculous. Theodore nn Teddy might be better?

KoalaDownUnder · 11/06/2017 00:34

If you're not going to use a longer name with Teddy for nn, then definitely Elliot.

Teddy is twee beyond belief on an adult.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/06/2017 01:21

Elliot.

Fridgedooropen · 11/06/2017 01:22

Elliot

OwlsinTowls · 11/06/2017 01:41

Elliot.

squoosh · 11/06/2017 01:52

Elliot

He will not want to be a 50 year old Teddy.

RagingCunt · 11/06/2017 01:53

Elliot

PrettyLittleLiars2017 · 11/06/2017 02:35

I really don't think being a 50 year old Teddy matters. It's a name in the top 100.

Then call him Teddy.

(My thoughts are with you future 50 year old Teddy)

LorLorr2 · 11/06/2017 03:19

How about Theo? :)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 11/06/2017 07:15

OP when your kid is 50, he will be 50 alongside millions of 50 year old Archies, Alfies, Sonnys etc.

Both names on our list (although for us it's Theo!). Not sure which I prefer!

ScarletSienna · 11/06/2017 07:24

Elliot unless you'd use Edward for Teddy, then Edward would be my first choice.

Teddy is a bit different to Alfie and Archie and the other 'cutesy' names I think because of the 'teddy bear' thing. It makes it even less appealing for a teen or adult.

SuperBeagle · 11/06/2017 07:51

Elliot.

A Teddy would get picked on relentlessly here in Australia. It's such a wimpy name for a person. Horrible.

cliffdiver · 11/06/2017 07:53

Elliot.

It seems every other baby boy born recently is called Teddy.

I also agree with PP that Teddy would seem odd on an grown up.

GinIsIn · 11/06/2017 07:55

We have a Teddy and it really suits him now, as a baby, but we gave him a longer name so he could be something more age appropriate in later life. Would you consider that?

MollyHuaCha · 11/06/2017 08:00

Fenella has the answer. ^

CPtart · 11/06/2017 08:04

Edward is lovely, in its entirety. No contrived nn, certainly not Teddy.
I dislike Elliot but prefer even that to Teddy.

GinIsIn · 11/06/2017 08:21

Oh and on here you will get
Completely polarised responses to Teddy, depending on the whim of mumsnet at the time you post. Check old threads for it - it's either loved, or hated.

EmmyInTheSticks · 11/06/2017 08:29

I prefer Teddy but I would have to put Ted/Edward/Edmund etc on the birth certificate for a bit more gravitas.

If pushed I'd still go for Teddy over Elliot.
