Elma

I came across this name for our DD due soon and it might be pregnancy hormones but I really like the name. What do you think?

The cream is Emla.

Elma does make me think of Elmer Fudd I'm afraid.

I used to work with a lovely lady called Elma.
She was kind and gentle so it's a yes from me!

Tinnie88 · 25/05/2017 21:56

My first thought was Elmo. If it's handwritten people could easily mistake it. Elva though, love that. Never heard of it before but adding it to my own list!

CaulkheadUpNorf · 25/05/2017 21:59

The elephant.

An elver is a young eel, Elva lovers.

I like Elma. Velma is Scooby Doo. Also Selma, Simpsons.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/05/2017 22:56

I know a lovely Velma, so I second this.

Thanks everyone for the comments, seems pretty consistent that we should definitely not use Elma as a name!

Yeah I think Fudd or Elephant. I'd worry about bullying if your child ever had any weight issues.

I grew up with one. Her christened name was Eleanor Mary. They shortened it to Elma. I always assumed it was a normal name but thinking about it now, I've only known the one.
