Love Pippa and Penelope but have a P surname. Would that sound terribly stupid??? It sort of reminds me of superhero name like Peter Parker and I don't know if it's just going to sound ridiculous.

As long as it's not Penelope Pitstop, I like alliterative names.

SuperBeagle · 19/05/2017 12:05

As long as it's not something like Pippa Potts or Penelope Potts.

Sophronia · 19/05/2017 12:32

I know a Penelope Pope Grin

frazzlebedazzle · 19/05/2017 12:35

I LOVE alliterative names! Precisely for the superhero reason!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 19/05/2017 12:47

I like alliterative names :)

Rockaby · 19/05/2017 12:49

I also like alliterative names Smile. Love Penelope!

auntym · 19/05/2017 13:00

I prefer Pippa and think it would be fine with a P surname.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/05/2017 17:58

Absolutely fine.

MuffinWar · 19/05/2017 18:02

Pippa means blowjob in many Mediterranean countries so I'd go for Penelope.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 19/05/2017 18:35

I prefer Penelope or Penny, btw.

(And I personally genuinely love Peggy... But it was vetoed)

My newborn daughter has an alliterative name with our last name (both the letter E) and I love it! It's quite sparky to have an alliterative name I think! Go for it!

Hmm, a simple alliteration often works but both the first names you suggest already have two syllables starting with P so combining them with a P surname gives a very puh-puh-puh sound. Unless your surname is actually Ph- and sounds like F?

nonsparkle · 20/05/2017 02:01

My initials are PP! I like both names, Penelope is becoming more popular.

I know a little girl who's initials are EEE- all names begin with El.

Joeybee · 20/05/2017 03:09

I'm really not a fan of alliteration in names, they just doesn't flow well, and sound a bit like childrens book characters. Love Penelope though, and Pippa. Tbh I think it depends on what your surname is - sometimes alliterative names sound okay, sometimes they sound too clunky.

Redpramlady · 21/05/2017 22:23

Pippa is my all time fav girls name! But as previously said we didn't end up using it because of the slang meanings in many European countries. Still annnoyd me now as it's a lovely name!
