Don't like any of your boys names.
Out of the girls. I love Aspen. Avery is okay

BlondeGinger · 07/05/2017 00:32

I love Sage and Clover. Not a big fan of any of the boys names.

ohhappyday123 · 07/05/2017 00:32

what boys names would you suggest? (along the same lines as Aspen)

I like your lists :) Personally I'd probably steer clear of Amelie and Finn/Finlay as there seem to be a lot around but I love Sage, Arwen and Reef. Clover is nice too. Avery sounds quite American to me, so it depends what you're going for.

Could suggest some middle names if I knew how many syllables your surname has.

SuperBeagle · 07/05/2017 01:40

Sage - Not a fan of this. It sounds like the sort of name you'd hear in Nimbin or the Haight district in the 60s.

Amelie - I like this in French, intensely dislike it in English. The pronunciation is butchered in English. I prefer Amelia.

Clover - Dislike. See Sage. A girl I played netball with as a kid had a sister named Clover who was made fun of so badly that she changed it when she was legally able to. It might be different now, but I still think it's a name that has a lot of teasing potential.

Aspen - Not a fan. Unless you've been to or have close links with Aspen, Colorado.

Arwen - Love this.

Avery - Not a fan. Reminds me of a bird aviary.

Finn - Nice, but very popular.

Flynn - Love this. Probably my favourite boys name of all time.

Finlay/Finley - Nice, but again, very popular at the moment. I prefer this to just Finn though.

Reef - Nope. See Sage and Clover.

Reid - This is nice. It'd work with the right last name.

Joeybee · 07/05/2017 01:50

Sage - Quite like this name, though I've never really seen it or given it much though. It sounds like a name for a feisty, strong little girl. I think it's uncommon, but not too out-there. Like it.

Amelie - Too popular for me. It's a beautiful name though, and a good alternative to the overused Emilie.

Clover - Too hippy/flowery for me. Plus I associate it with a cow.

Aspen - Has 'Ass' built right in to the name, which would worry me about using it.

Arwen - prefer Anwen.

Avery - Pretty, unassuming name. I can imagine it on lots of different little girls.

Finn,Flynn (put these together as for me they are very similar) Think they are nice, not overused (well in the UK anyway, they're pretty popular here in Australia). Think I prefer Finn, but only as a nn for Finlay.

Finlay/Finley- too common for me. But a nice name. The fact there are two potential spellings for me would put me off it somewhat.

Reef - Too out there for me, and I think of the alcoholic drink.

Reid - nice, cool, trendy, I like it.

Mrsknackered · 07/05/2017 02:36

I love Arwen, and I love Flynn.
Can I suggest Rive for your boys names? It's pronounced Reev and I know a lovely Rive. It's French for 'from the shore' Smile

Mrsknackered · 07/05/2017 02:37

Incorrect it's not French for 'from the shore' that's its meaning.
I definitely need to get some sleep

Scrumpernickel · 07/05/2017 04:15

Am I the only one that makes a drugs connection with Reef?

I think Arwen and Finn are both lovely names.

Sophronia · 07/05/2017 05:02

I only like Reid.

wren23091 · 07/05/2017 05:48

I love Finley, and I think James goes nicely as a middle name :) then Finn/Fin for short? I actually really like all of your names except Reef/Reid - not sure why, they just don't strike a chord with me

Calphurnia · 07/05/2017 05:51

Flynn - on my list

Aspen - also on an early list, but could get the Ass Pen out of my head

Clover I also like but doesn't go with DC1's name so it didn't make the list

MarcelineQueen · 07/05/2017 06:55

I really like Arwen, not keen on the other girls names. Strongly dislike sage and clover

Love Finn/Flynn/Reef. Agee with PP though that Reef has alcoholic drink/drug connotations

summerblonde · 07/05/2017 07:40

Flynn is lovely.

Jooni · 07/05/2017 07:54

I really like Clover, Amelie, Arwen, Finn and Flynn.

virtualinsanity · 07/05/2017 07:54

Arwen is pretty (I just imagine Liv Tyler) as is Amelie but the latter so overused in the last 10 years.

Sage and Clover are dreadful.

Aspen and Avery sound like boys names to me?

Reef makes me think of the 90's band "put your hands on ...." or the alcopop. Or a reefer as a pp said. It s a terrible name for a child.

Reid is a surname. Inoffensive though.

I quite like Flynn. And all the permutations of Finlay/Fynn are good names but have been ruined for me in recent years as all the teenage ones are problems in the classroom!

So I vote Arwen and Flynn.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/05/2017 08:21

I really like Reid, from your boys list, but not the others.
Clover is very pretty.
Boy suggestion, re Aspen.
Ashton
Ashley
Arden
Audley
Austin
Ainsley
Arlo

CricketRuntAndRashers · 07/05/2017 15:19

Sage: no. Sorry, but I really dislike it.
Amelie: very nice!
Clover: Definitely better than Sage imo! It's cute.
Aspen: not my cup of tea but inoffensive.
Arwen: maybe? It's nice.
Avery: no.

Boys:
Finn: ok but a bit boring imo.
Flynn: very nice! Lovely name
Finlay/Finley: ok
Reef: No
Reid: Inoffensive but I personally don't like it.

What about Leif, Arlo, Alder, Quill, Basil, Ludo, Milo, Juniper, Ailsa, Fern, Lilac, Violet or Ottilie?

FizzyGreenWater · 07/05/2017 15:24

How about Aster for a girl?

For a boy - Felix, Rhys, Max?

Quite like Finn (but popular).

AnotherAnnoyingMother · 07/05/2017 16:25

Clover and Avery are both lovely.
Finn too

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/05/2017 20:02

Sage - I like it. It's different
Amelie - I like but it's very popular in my area I've met 4 under 1s called Amelia (though no Amelia's strangely)
Clover - ridiculous for a child, fine for a pet
Aspen - I like it, but prefer for a boy
Arwen - great name
Avery - very American to me which I dislike

Finn - dh tried to convince me of this one and I like Finn but felt it needed a full name none which we could agree on. I kind of liked Phineas nn Finn but TH didn't so it was a no goer

Flynn - like
Finlay/Finley - hate. If had to choose a spelling it would be Finley

Reef - like the old- school alcohol. Nope

Reid - ok, sounds a little dull though I like Clark which has a similar feel

Rockaby · 07/05/2017 21:39

Girls:
Sage - nice
Amelie - ok
Clover - lovely!
Aspen - dislike
Arwen - Love it! Definitely my favourite
Avery - nice

Boys:
Finn - nice
Flynn - nice
Finlay/Finley - nice
Reef - not keen
Reid - not keen

How about:

Arwen Clover
Finn Amory?

mathanxiety · 08/05/2017 02:25

I only like Avery and Finn from your list.

I love Avery.
Finn is the best of a medium lot.

Suggestions:
Asher
Amos
Fergus
Fraser
Auden

Freyanna · 08/05/2017 02:46

I like Amelie or Amelia.

I like Finn, Flynn and Finlay.

I like the names Freya and Estelle for a girl.

FluffyBathTowel · 08/05/2017 09:12

Clover and Flynn are my favourites. Not keen on any of the others.
