My DD was conceived in Paris and my dp has set his heart on the name Paris and I really, really don't want to call her Paris! It will also be incredibly awkward when we have to explain to her why we named her Paris, how can I compromise on this? Can anyone think of any names related to Paris or suggest any French names, but not Paris! Thanks.

Maybe you could give your DD a name that you think will suit her and her identity as a unique person - not a name that's solely about you and your DH and the place you happened to have sex

I know someone called France, but you could also have Frances?

This might be useful?:

Paris used to be called "the city of light" - what about names related to light?

There are loads but Dawn, Ellen and Annalina just off the top of my head.

therootoftheroot · 29/04/2017 15:25

clare means light too
i love Clare-i think it's such a pretty and underused name

onthettcbus · 29/04/2017 15:26

Francesca?

TempehTantrum · 29/04/2017 15:27

Halsall · 29/04/2017 15:27

Marianne is the symbol of the French Republic, and her sculpture overlooks the Place de la Nation.

WankersHacksandThieves · 29/04/2017 15:28

To pick up in the City Of Light thing: Lucie?

onthettcbus · 29/04/2017 15:33

It would be so much easier if it was Italy, I love the names Florence and Milan, I might try and persuade dp to name her one of these instead.

Esmeralda (from the hunchback of Norte Dame)

Lisa or Mona from the Mona Lisa in the Louvre

Elise for the Champs Elyse

What things did you do/see that were particularly memorable.

Lots of beautiful French girls names generally that aren't specific to Paris.

HoratioNightboy · 29/04/2017 15:43

Parisa? I've known a couple but can't remember its cultural origin. I think it sounds like it could be from anwhere though.

HoratioNightboy · 29/04/2017 15:46

It's Persian and means "like a fairy". Any good?
