I love the girl's name Neoma, meaning 'new moon', especially with Neo as a nickname but I think I see a possible issue with it - don't want to say what it is as I want to see whether others genuinely would spot it! What do you think?

I like Neo on its own for a girl. Also Cleo or Theo.

joannegrady90 · 29/04/2017 06:41

Sorry op but it's shit 😯.

How about Nia? Naomi? Naimh?

rizlett · 29/04/2017 06:46

Decide not to care what anyone else thinks and you can have whatever name you choose.

jarhead123 · 29/04/2017 06:58

I like it, but I can also see the medical link x

Rockaby · 29/04/2017 07:03

It does sound a bit medical... it is pretty though and I like the meaning. Which language is that from?

How about Luna instead? Or Noa?

AnnieAnoniMouse · 29/04/2017 07:31

My niece has the name of a disease, I dislike it on that basis, I just think 'Why would you?' But yours is different because it's just a similar sound/look - it wouldn't have occurred to me.

But I think it's one of those names that would cause her a lifetime of either correcting others or being called quite a few mangled varieties of her name, then there's the spelling...

bitofabelly · 29/04/2017 07:38

I knew a girl called Neola....lovely name

befuddledgardener · 29/04/2017 07:42

Skin cancer.

There's Nia and Naomi which are similar

befuddledgardener · 29/04/2017 07:46

Neve

Starlighter · 29/04/2017 07:52

It's does sound a bit like a disease! But you have some lovely suggestions here, OP, especially Neola.

windygallows · 29/04/2017 07:59

Op if you like neo try it with a different ending like Neolla or neoka or neon! Just play around to find something that works.

oleoleoleole · 29/04/2017 08:05

I'd think you wanted Naomi and spelt it wrong!

EssentialHummus · 29/04/2017 08:11

No other association except that I'd think it was a version of Naomi. Not keen, some good suggestions on here for alternatives.

welshweasel · 29/04/2017 08:18

I don't like it but don't think it's horrific. Unlike candida, which makes me think you really didn't want a child...

Kittykatclaws · 29/04/2017 08:24

First thought matrix, second neo nazi

Sorry OP not keen!

How about Naomi? Nori? Norah?

Beebeeeight · 29/04/2017 08:28

It makes me think of neoplasm/ cancer sorry

PuppyMonkey · 29/04/2017 08:33

Yes it kind of scans as Naomi backwards. Not a nice enough name to warrant all the hassle it will cause imho.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/04/2017 08:42

Neola, is a very nice alternative.

DissonantInterval · 29/04/2017 08:47

I'm not too keen, sorry. It does rather sound like something medically worrying. Would you consider Neo by itself? I don't see why it can't be unisex. It sounds like it could be. I do like it without the 'ma' at the end.

Baconsausageandegg · 29/04/2017 08:50

Nemo!
Rather cool though

DissonantInterval · 29/04/2017 08:50

I've just seen there's been suggestions of Noa and Nia. Love these :)

Aquamarine1029 · 29/04/2017 19:13

It really does look like a medical condition. I'm sorry.

SleepForTheWeek · 29/04/2017 20:52

I know a Neoma - and EVERYONE gets her name wrong. I mean, people that have worked with her for a couple of years, and they STILL get it wrong. Mostly people call her Naomi.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 29/04/2017 21:05

What about Naoma? Naomi?

I don't dislike it. But I don't really like it either...

If I wanted new moon I'd probably go for "Nova Luna Surname", tbh...

harderandharder2breathe · 29/04/2017 22:15

I would think you were using a weird version of Naomi sorry
