We just haven't found a name that "feels" right. We need to register DC no later than 3 days after his or her birth (not in the UK...), which is probably why it feels as if time is running away...

The name should sound nice to Scottish ears (we're moving to Scotland for work related reasons).

DD's name is Clarissa. Thank you very much in advance

(Btw, I namechanged for this because I wanted to mention DD's name)

QuietName where we are in Scotland we would pronounce is Roz-a-Lyn but with a soft sounding z if that makes sense?

Have always loved it as I went to school with a very kind, clever, cheery, pretty girl called Rosalyn :)

Good luck with your name search & your move to Scotland Smile

Martha,
Madeleine
Jennifer

That does sound so so lovely. I think that has to be the middle name, if not the first (and if not a DS Grin Poor boy, named Roslin... Reminds me of the Cash song). It would be like a subtle theme, seeing as DD's middle name is a Lily-name....

Could we spell it Roslin?
THanks :)

Eirlys (snow drop in Welsh) lovely meaning! but the pronunciation is v v unclear to me (plus, we're not Welsh or moving to Wales).

Dahlia is nice, thanks. :)

wizzlerI do like Madeleine... But it does seem like a tragic name (for several reasons).

Do you like Imelda? nn Immie?

How about Erin, or Harriet.

Valeriemalorie · 28/04/2017 20:52

Fiona
Eleanor
Stephanie
Marianne

QuietNameChange · 28/04/2017 20:56

wizzler---

I don't like Harriet. It's so harsh... Especially when I don't "mind my accent" and roll my "r"s...

Erin is nice. But I think it means Ireland. And I've never even been to Ireland... So, Idl.

I like Eleanor and Fiona is gorgeous. Is it too "shrek"?

Miranda? Meera/Maura for short?

Koalaid · 28/04/2017 21:06

Imelda is lovely

QuietNameChange · 28/04/2017 21:20

Wankers

I actually wanted Miranda nn Meera. But apparently my pronounciation sounds like "myra" which DH hated because of that... awful "woman".

Koalaid

Thanks :) I saw it suggested on an other thread, a woman saw this name and liked it so much that she wanted to share... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/a2915025-Beautiful-girls-name?msgid=68670689#68670689

Oh is there? I didn't know that - oops! ☺️

Sadie?

QuietNameChange · 28/04/2017 21:38

summer

Well, not more tragic than many other people of that time, but yes, there was... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Mafalda_of_Savoy

I don't like Sadie, sorry. It's a version of Sarah, right? I know a Suri, which is apparently a Yiddish version of Sarah. I like Suri but it's a bit too much Cruise, I think.

Ojoj1974 · 28/04/2017 22:20

Isadora
Xanthe zanthe or ianthe
Hesta or Nesta
Harriet
Aoife
Katinka

Ralph
Raph
Hector
Douglass
Ross
Sholto
Angus

QuietNameChange · 29/04/2017 10:10

keep

Thanks. Love that name... (but maybe more of a middle name, due to pronunciation issues. Obviously not in Scotland but yeah....)

Ojoj Love some of your boy's names but I must admit, except for Isadora (which I love) they don't work in my accent. Honestly, I'd upload a vocal of me pronouncing them if I knew how... But Katinka and especially Harriet sound so harsh in my accent. But thank you so much :) Sorry.
