We have a Fred.

What do you think about Tim?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have a Timothy - who is Timmy and may well become Tim one day. It's not very common - which we liked Smile

ScarletSienna · 25/04/2017 22:54

Harry Enfield has made it a no for me although I do like it and really like Timothy.

Judyscakeaddiction · 25/04/2017 22:55

I quite like Timothy myself and considered it, but I'm not so keen on Tim. I like the sound and how straightforward it is, easy to spell, say etc. But I think of Tiny Tim or Tim-nice-but-dim. Most people would probably not though.
I do know a very nice Tim and a lovely Timothy too.

carabos · 25/04/2017 22:56

Married to Tim, mum of Fred . Know loads of Tims in our generation, don't know any little ones.

PurpleTraitor · 25/04/2017 22:57

Nice but dim.

Come on Tim shouted annoyingly from henman hill.

Kind of wet. Sorry.

PurpleTraitor · 25/04/2017 22:58

Oh and South Park vetoes Timmy.

troodiedoo · 25/04/2017 22:58

Love it! And Fred. Good solid names.

PovertyJetset · 25/04/2017 22:59

I also think of Tim as a small, thin reedy name. It has no base or substance,

However it is a perfectly nice name and very serviceable.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 25/04/2017 22:59

Very 1970s. There are lots of middle aged Tims around. Tim is actually OK though Timmy is ghastly.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 25/04/2017 23:00

I'd forgotten Southpark :).

ilovepixie · 25/04/2017 23:31

Timmy reminds me of the dog in the famous five!

Teabagtits · 25/04/2017 23:39

Timmeh from South Park or Tim nice but dim are who spring to mind... or even Timothy the mummy's boy played by Ronnie Corbett ...

bumpertobumper · 25/04/2017 23:43

Tim Dowling, Guardian columnist, wrote about being called Tim...

BackforGood · 25/04/2017 23:44

Another who inwardly says "nice but dim" whenever I meet a Tim Blush Sorry! although at least I only do it in my head

Sophronia · 26/04/2017 00:26

I think it's ok short for Timothy.

Aquamarine1029 · 26/04/2017 02:15

It's a weak name. Don't like it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/04/2017 08:08

Not for me either.

sonlypuppyfat · 26/04/2017 08:10

I know an adult Tim who has a baby Tim it's a nice name

goldenrachita · 26/04/2017 09:53

I love the name Timothy (and Tim). I think it's like a Sam or Ben kind of name but not as common. I also think it has a certain 50s feel which I like- a bit Enid Blyton. I think a baby Tim will make the name his own.

Garnethair · 26/04/2017 09:55

I know two adult Tims. Excellent blokes both of them.

maitaimojito · 26/04/2017 09:58

I know of two adult Tims and 'nice but dim' really does suit them unfortunately!

I don't have a strong aversion to the name but not something I'd choose.
