Our baby boy is 3 days old. Should we go for Aedan or Ardan? Smile thanks!

Neither. Aidan or Ardal.

NewStateswoman · 25/04/2017 19:56

What Maud said.

Congratulations on your baby boy Flowers

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 25/04/2017 20:00

Ardal is a cracking name. As we're stopping at our 2 DDs I'm sad I'll never get to pick an awesome Irish boy's name for a baby. Maybe I need a dog...

SwedishEdith · 25/04/2017 20:02

I've only heard Arden for a female. Aedan - is that a traditional spelling?

MrsHughesCarson · 25/04/2017 20:03

Aiden

ClashCityRocker · 25/04/2017 20:06

Aeden. Ardon sounds like a Cockney saying 'hard on'.

vitaminC · 25/04/2017 20:20

Aidan

DramaAlpaca · 25/04/2017 21:15

Agree with what Maud said.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 25/04/2017 21:16

Aiden or maybe Auden. Not keen on your choices.
Congratulations by the way.

RicketyCricket · 25/04/2017 21:16

Aidan.

Please.

Gallavich · 25/04/2017 21:19

Where did you get those spellings from?
Aidan is nice

thebakerwithboobs · 25/04/2017 21:26

No opinion on name-we need to see the beautiful squishy baby please!!

Elllicam · 25/04/2017 21:29

Aidan is nice.

PortiaCastis · 25/04/2017 21:31

Aidan is nice

Mum2jenny · 25/04/2017 21:34

Aidan or Adrian are ok

strawberrypenguin · 25/04/2017 21:36

I though Arden was a girls name? So Aidan

Sophronia · 25/04/2017 21:40

Aidan or Ardal

LadyMaryofDownt0n · 25/04/2017 21:43

Aodhan

2014newme · 25/04/2017 21:44

Neither.
Aidan is a good name

buttercup54321 · 25/04/2017 21:56

Aiden. Adrian. Rhian.

SuperBeagle · 25/04/2017 22:01

I like Arden, but prefer it for a girl (and prefer this spelling, as in Elizabeth Arden).

I don't like Aeden.

How about Auden? I went to school with an Auden. Cool name, very unusual too.

FizzyGreenWater · 26/04/2017 10:42

I don't like either and would go for Aidan, but of the two I would say Aedan as Ardan sounds a bit close to 'ard on (eek).

Haven't heard the Irish name Ardal before, but if you live in Wales perhaps not this either as it's the Welsh word for 'area' and is on lots of public signage, etc. To me seeing that written as a name looks very odd! Grin

badtime · 26/04/2017 11:06

Swedish, Aedan is a traditional spelling, possibly in Old Irish? (although I think it was actually Áedán). It is not commonly used, although I do know one little Aedan.

An example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81ed%C3%A1n_mac_Gabr%C3%A1in

I hope that helps anyone wondering 'where the OP got her spellings from'. Hmm

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 26/04/2017 13:50

Ardal is simply fabulous.

Adean... There are so many little Aiden/Aidans. And Aydens, Aydun etc.
Adean is lovely, but there are so many ways to misspell this...
