It's not great...

allegretto · 23/04/2017 15:30

In what way ok?

AmysTiara · 23/04/2017 15:30

Of course it is ok

Daffieee · 23/04/2017 15:31

2 colours...

Sounds fine to me.

2 colours and 2 gemstones- a bit unusual but not terrible.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2017 15:34

If you like it that's all that matters. I think of it as two gemstones rather than two colours.

BikeRunSki · 23/04/2017 15:34

2 gem names are a bit odd, unless you're a geologist or a jeweller.

petalsandstars · 23/04/2017 15:38

Reminds me too much of the kids programme Sofia the first.

elevenclips · 23/04/2017 15:40

I love it but I don't think it's very mumsnetty.
Lots of names that mumsnetters generally agree are beautiful- I am Confused

moonlightmile · 23/04/2017 15:43

I think it's fine, Amber and Ruby are both perfectly ordinary, not too 'out there' names so I doubt anyone will think twice about it.

badtime · 23/04/2017 15:51

Both names are fine on their own, but the two gemstones together seem a bit odd, like if someone was called Hazel Willow or Iris Violet.

BuzzKillington · 23/04/2017 15:55

Amber and Ruby? Too much, imo, like Daisy Rose or Hope Constance...

I would also admit that, round the parts at least, Amber is a bit of a chavvy name.

Rockaby · 23/04/2017 16:10

I think you'd be better with a middle name starting with a letter other than R tbh. Amber Ruby just sounds like Amberuby or Amber Ruby.

If you really want two gem stones how about

Amber Opal
Amber Pearl
Amber Sapphire

Or something totally different.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/04/2017 17:27

Yes of course, it's absolutely fine.

FannyFanakapan · 23/04/2017 17:32

How often will someone say the second name? How often does anyone say the second name unless its hyphenated like Daisy-Mae or Emily-Jane.

I have an AMber wiith a second name similar to Ruby...I only ever call her by both names when I an pretending to be shocked at her behaviour. Its a lovely name. Especially if, like mine, she is a red-head!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/04/2017 17:51

You only need to add Ferne and you'll have your own little pedestrian traffic light.

OrlandaFuriosa · 23/04/2017 17:57

If you like it, go ahead. I wouldn't but that's because I don't think rubies come in amber colours...but few people will use both names.

Sophronia · 23/04/2017 21:05

I think it's too much together.

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 23/04/2017 21:14

It's fine.

Do I love it? No. But it's ok.

I'd prefer Ruby as a first name, tbh. Ruby Rose.

But Amber Rose or Amber Ray would be nice as well imo.

KimJongCunt · 23/04/2017 23:12

The Rs run in to each other and for that reason I would reconsider.

Ruby Amber is better imo.

Teabagtits · 23/04/2017 23:22

I really like both names not sure about together. I once worked with an amber rose whose maiden surname began with a T so great initials. She married someone whose surname began with an S... not so great initials. I think she kept her maiden name.

AmateurSwami · 23/04/2017 23:24

Amber rose is famous for dating Kanye west, don't pick that.

Amber ruby is lovely

badg3r · 23/04/2017 23:38

It's a bit odd, makes me think of fire because of the colour associations. And Amber R Surname doesn't trip off the tongue. But it's not terrible. Both are nice names.
