We are a bit stuck with finding a nice name for our daughter due this summer. Like the name Aoife (pronounced EE-fa). What do you think?

I like it

CiderwithBuda · 23/04/2017 14:17

I like it. I love Maeve too.

HeyCat · 23/04/2017 14:19

I like it. It's pretty well known now in England I'd that makes a difference, I'd know how to spell and pronounce it.

TinselTwins · 23/04/2017 14:21

It's nice and as PPs said I think it's well enough known in England to not be Ay-oh-if-ee

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite · 23/04/2017 14:54

I like it.

Rockaby · 23/04/2017 14:55

Lovely name!

I do know three English born Aoifes now (all with one Irish parent each). Think it must be more popular here now.

emilybrontescorset · 23/04/2017 16:22

Lovely.

Illuminator · 23/04/2017 16:23

Its really lovely.

Quite popular in Ireland and increasingly so in the UK, but its 'Eve' in Gaelic...so quite classic and timeless.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/04/2017 17:26

Very nice.😄

Jooni · 23/04/2017 17:51

Like it. I know two non-Irish Aoifes.

Loyly · 23/04/2017 17:54

It's lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2017 18:39

I love it.

It's very popular in Ireland, I know loads.

Not sure where you live, but just thought I'd point out that in an English accent it will be pronounced EE-fuh or EE-fer rather than EE-fa as an Irish person would say it.

harderandharder2breathe · 23/04/2017 18:55

Very pretty name

alphabook · 23/04/2017 18:58

I like it but just bear in mind a LOT of people will get it wrong. I have a friend called Sian and I thought that was a common enough name that most people would know how it's pronounced but she gets called See-an constantly.

MiniMaxi · 23/04/2017 19:05

Lovely!

Bringmesunshite · 23/04/2017 19:19

Nice name. Bit contrived if you are not Irish- descent but, hey, if you like it..

deluxetrolley · 23/04/2017 23:05

Love that name, and Maeve too, however DH vetoed both as we're in Australia and pretty sure they would confuse people here :(

Babyk12 · 24/04/2017 19:41

Thank you for all your comments. My husband has Irish heritage so thought an Irish name might be the best option as we cannot agree on any English names...

I think it's a beautiful name. I like Oonagh too.
