I also like that it gets rid of the liver part of Oliver, which I never really liked (as it reminds me of liver).

It's French for Oliver, not a typo.

OP are you French or francophone? Or do you live somewhere multicultural? If so go for it, you won't get any typo comments. I personally prefer it to Oliver, it has a much nicer sound

Olivier is a lovely name and not uncommon where French speakers live. Why would people think it's a typo for Oliver?

Well I thought it was a typo for Oliver and I live in a very multicultural area, I don't think it would be that uncommon given you are living in England and that Oliver is currently the most popular boys name.

In which case absolutely go for it. It's hardly confusing for a native Brit to pronounce, unlike say, Thibault, Guillaume or Ghislain.

I knew a lovely, fluffy, orange cat named Olivier. Outside of my street I suppose it is a human's name! But if always picture the cat. He did have lovely manners though
