We live in the Surrey/London border area and wondered how common the following names are:

Penelope
Emma
Wren
Felix
Albert

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NappingRabbit · 21/04/2017 12:27

I'm in the same area and know one Felix but don't know any children by the other names. I have a two year old so haven't reached school age yet.

Raaaaaah · 21/04/2017 12:31

I know one Penelope, one wren and two felix.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 21/04/2017 12:34

I only know a Felix.

ShotsFired · 21/04/2017 12:40

I'm not far from you and I know at least one of each of those, and some I know several!

And I don't have a lot of babies/children in my acquaintance compared to many MNers so that is a v high proportion in a small sample!

originalbiglymavis · 21/04/2017 12:42

I know a Penelope (Canadian) and a Felix (English). There was a kid the sane age as DS called Albert at baby class and I only know a grown up Emma.

NetballHoop · 21/04/2017 12:43

I know a Felix and an Emma

viques · 21/04/2017 12:44

They are fairly common names, if you want them to be a bit more unique you till have to play about with the spelling. apostrophes would work too.

E'mma
W'ren
Pheelix

Etc

grumpyfish52 · 21/04/2017 12:55

Goodness, please don't do what viques has suggested!

I know an Albert and an Emma. But i don't think any would be described as really common (although not super unusual either)

wizzywig · 21/04/2017 12:56

No!!! Dont add apostrophes to the names

BasicBetty · 21/04/2017 12:57

I know an Emma and a Felix (both school age)

EssentialHummus · 21/04/2017 12:58

Grin viques

Valeriemalorie · 21/04/2017 13:07

I know a Penelope and an Emma.

porterwine · 21/04/2017 13:56

Emma is in my top 3 names. I only know of one 6 year old Emma..all the rest are adults.
Haven't come across a Wren or Felix.
I know 1 baby Penny and 2 Albert/ Bertie.

StopShoutingAtYourBrother · 21/04/2017 14:11

I know a few Emma's,
Please don't do apostrophes.....

RemoteControlledChaos · 21/04/2017 14:28

Apostrophes: oh good grief...

grufallosfriend · 21/04/2017 16:40

All fairly common, apart from Wren. I've never met a Wren!

Enidblyton1 · 21/04/2017 17:30

I have never met a Wren, but I know 2 Penelopes and more than 5 boys called Felix and Albert - they seem to be rising rapidly in popularity around London. I only know 1 Emma, but a few of my friends have used it as a middle name.

Floellabella · 21/04/2017 21:14

I know two baby Wrens in London and two baby Penelopes x

Badgoushk · 21/04/2017 21:18

I live in SW London.

Penelope 0
Emma 1
Wren 0
Felix 2
Albert 2

bridgetreilly · 21/04/2017 23:43

Instead of Wren you could try a different bird:

Robin
Jay
Magpie
Chaffinch
Linnet
Curlew
Dove
Martin
Peregrine
Serin
Wigeon

Mrsknackered · 22/04/2017 12:45

In London I knew a lot of Penelope's and Felix's, one Albert.
No Wren's and only 30-40 yo Emma's (I love it though!)

BagelDog · 22/04/2017 12:48

Surrey here, two Penelope's two Emma's, one wren, three gelid and about five Albert/Albie.

MrsDarcy4092 · 22/04/2017 16:42

Sounds like they are all around but not crazy popular?

We do also love Erin and Robin for a girl. But Penelope is probably Our top choice.

Felix and Albert are only two boys names we both like, with Felix the top choice.

Oysterbabe · 22/04/2017 18:59

I know a Wren and an Albert.

MrsMeeseeks · 22/04/2017 19:30

We're drowning in Felixes here in our bit of SW London. Every other white boy is called Felix, Oscar, Sam, Leo, Harry or Ethan.
