Traditional, under used names?

Another baby name thread from me - less than 8 weeks to go and no further forward with names!

For girls we both like :
Robyn
Erin

For boys we like
Callum
Euan

There seems to be a lot of Callum's about at the moment so kind of gone off that name.

We like traditional names but not overly common. Don't like 'old fashioned' names that seem to making a comeback (Nancy, Alfie etc - no offence to anyone just not our cup of tea). Also, must be easy and obvious to spell (Euan is giving me issues as 2 very different ways of spelling)

Any other suggestions? I feel like I've been on every google baby name page!!

We both really liked Lewis but our close friends recently had a boy and called him that, so it's no longer on our list.

Beth was another possible contender

Struan! Autocorrect gone mad!

SleepForTheWeek · 19/04/2017 00:17

I LOVE Gregor - it would be my top choice, but DH hates it for some reason Hmm

Yes you are right enjoy, and we do like traditional Scots names but not ones with difficult spellings.

I know an Arran and Harris too if island names appeal.

SleepForTheWeek · 19/04/2017 00:20

They are quite popular where we live, and one of them is particularly close 😊

A friend called her baby boy Sorley recently - I love that and want to know what list she got it from!!

You'll know all I know then!

Struan is a fine name.

Or John!

I've got a Lewis, but if we hadn't of settled on Lewis he would have been a Gerry. Do you like Gerry?

Katietwinmum · 19/04/2017 00:23

My twin boys are Andrew and Keir. Both great Traditional Scottish names

EnjoyYourVegetables · 19/04/2017 00:24

I like Elise for girls. I know of a couple of grown women but no babies. Is it too old fashioned or due a revival?!

SleepForTheWeek · 19/04/2017 00:31

DH loved Andrew but it was such a popular name when I was in school it put me off.

I like Alison and Juliet but one is the name of a close family member and the DH doesn't like the other.

I also quite like Georgie for a girl, and Julia. It's DH that's being awkward and vetoing all my suggestions!

I also really like Murran/Mirren but again, DH is not feeling it.

I have an issue with Elise. It's actually a really pretty name but it's pronounced here - more like Eleeze.

Depends where you are in the UK - I have a Euan and there are 2 of them in his class. If we lived in Cornwall, Euan would be unheard of.

Other Scottish-y names at his school are Blair, Gregor, Alistair, Fraser, Innes, Struan, Fergus and for the girls Isla, Iona, Morven, Kirsty, Flora.

Also like the sound of Elin, but think people would just assume it's Ellen?
