I am drawn to this type of names for boys. Any other suggestions please.

I like Francis, Gabriel, Clarence (might not dare use this), Robin etc

Thanks

Thank you some lovely suggestions here. My list just got about ten more names added.

I've been reminded of quite a few i'd forgotten about.

Matthias, Geoffrey, Noah, Joel, Wilfred. I have a Gabriel, usually Gabey as he is only 1.

Blazedandconfused · 14/04/2017 21:48

Both my sons names have been mentioned- and a few more that I had been considering.

Francis is beautiful. I'm not having any more but I think it's my current favourite.

Our shortlist when DS was born was Oscar, Reuben and Elijah.

Other names that spring to mind (some already on this list) are: Sebastian, Seth, Reuben, Rufus, Joshua and Sebastian.

Bunnyjo · 14/04/2017 22:41

Oops, posted Sebastian twice. Must be because it is DS's best friend's name and not because I've had a glass or two of wine

Really lovely names on this thread (my ds name mentioned twice), but I don't get what makes them 'gentle' Confused?

MaisieDotes · 16/04/2017 10:00

I agree gruffalo- I think Francis and Gabriel are both really strong names. As are loads of the others mentioned.

DS1's name is mentioned here about 5 times and Francis was my top choice for DS2 but DH vetoed it, can't remember why. He was then to be Gabriel until I was about 35 weeks pg and we had a wobble. Still love the name though.

Not keen on Clarence I must admit.

Hugo
Aidan
Can think of lots more, but they're already been mentioned.

I suppose by 'gentle' the OP means names with softer consonants, and a sort of 'lyrical' feel, IYSWIM?

ZaraKeyOui · 16/04/2017 12:19

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I think by gentle I mean when I've told people I may use Francis they say it's a soft name in comparison I think to all the Harry/Henry/Oliver style of names.

I think Francis/Robin etc have got a slightly softer/more sensitive perception which I like. Not weak - although I suppose Cecil/Cyril etc do sound maybe too soft.

Hm... I really like Gabriel!

"Soft names"... I mean, it's obviously quite subjective, but I think these are quite soft (but still masculine, so not "too soft", as you may suspect Cecil may be).

Cineraria · 16/04/2017 21:19

DH dismissed Emil as a middle name for DS for being too soft. I also think of the name Timothy or Timmy that way.
