Hi all,

I am 17 weeks pregnant with no4 and i have just got dh to start talking about names.
For a boy it must be Scottish as i made dh leave his native land to move back to Brighton when i got pregnant with dd1 so the names that we have on our list are

Hector Raymond
Gregor Raymond

I am trying to get Otis and Cosmo added to this list too.

For a girl we are currently considering Dorothea - which i love - with the nn Dottie, she could use Thea when older for something more elegant. Our girls list at the moment is

Dorothea Violet
Enid Violet
Juniper Violet
Alma Violet
Magnolia (Maggie) Violet
Bess Violet
Nora/h Violet
Winifred Violet
Sally Violet
Miriam Violet

there are a few more but i have forgotton!
As you can see we are using Violet as a mn after my great grandmother, we will not use it as a first name though as there are loads about in my area.

My other 3 children are dd1 Iris, dd2 Pearl and ds Eli, so i want something that will not clash horribly with these.

I would love some opinions, or suggestions, though mn are non-negotiable.

Thanks
Clara

Alma Violet is lovely. All others are very charming, too.

Not sure about Primrose, though (sorry). Shortened to 'Prim'?

nooka · 20/01/2008 18:01

We were going to have Ezra, but got dd instead . Still think it's a fabby name. Quite like Silas too. Johnny is nice, but should (IMO of course) be John or Jonathan

ArchiesMama · 20/01/2008 18:18

I like just Miri instead of miriam

Jonathan then, Hatrick. I am a leetle bit biased, obv, given my very own JJ

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 23:34

lol, am just glad I am not the only one that fell for it!
I resurrected some old name threads, because I simply didn't realise that the Babyname section was so small, hence hardly any new threads in it, lol!

Not Magnolia...with Pearl and Violet your family might begin to sound like a paint chart. But Maggie is nice. Love Dorothea or Dorothy. Did you consider Dora?

katje · 20/01/2008 23:46

Love Saul, but Silas sounds a bit like silage..

Well, you know my favourite boys' names, Hatrick - I'm fresh out of ideas! If I ever have another one, it'd better be a girl, really!

clarahj · 25/01/2008 00:39

Hi
just saw this post had been resurected, i am the op so thought i would pop on and say that the baby is now 5 months old was a little boy and we called him

Amos Raymond Peter

so i got my way in the end.
It was a toss up between Amos, Ernest and Cedric in the end, and Octavia or Dorothea for a girl - save the rest for next time dont tell dh
