Albie?

We are having a boy and cannot decide on a name! I keep coming back to Albie. I can picture a baby/toddler called Albie. But not sure about a teenager/man? What do you think? Also trying to decided if we would put Albert on the birth certificate. Then Al, Bert and Bertie could be nick names too? But my husband saids he just thinks of Uncle Albert from only fools and horses....! Any other ideas for similar names?

I'm having a baby boy too and am really struggling with names.

My mum suggested Albi, I thought it was a nice name, but can't get Aldi out of my head whenever I say it, so it would be a no.

I like Callum, Dillon, but nothing too popular.

I know a 5 year old Albert who is Albie. I think it's lovely. When he is older he will probably just be Al which is fine. Can you go with Albert so he has options?

And I think the Aldi connection only makes sense if you spell it without the 'e' which looks wrong to me anyway

We have an Albie. He's 6 now and I still love his name. I did think if he hated it he could call himself Al also.

I know a grown up thirty something Albie as well and it really suits him too, he's a scientist.

But as an alternative we considered Elliot which I also love.

Personally I dislike the current trend for cutesy names Albie, Archie, Alfie. I would choose a more solid name personally

DD2 would have be Alby if she was a boy. I think it's a nice change from Archie, Alfie etc.

I know an Albion who is known as Albie. I quite like it!

I know a couple. I really dislike it.

I like it as a nickname but I hate diminutives used as given names - so fine to be named Albert and known as Albie, but not to put Albie on the BC

I adore it. Albert on the birth certificate and Albie as a NN tho. He can then choose as he gets older to be Bertie, Bert, Al etc.

My son's nest friend is called Albie, on his birth certificate he is Albert (he's 6)

I think Albie is lovely - Albie Singer's the character in Annie Hall, isn't he?

It's much nicer than the ubiquitous Alfie and Archie that are so popular right now.

I'd put Albert on the BC though.

I hate cutesy nicknames on BCs, I would definitely give a full name and then just use Albie as a nickname if you like it. It gives me a very Alfie, Archie feel though and I am so sick of those names.

I know an adult Albie, it's a lovely name! Even if you just go with Albie he could still shorten it to Al when older if desired?
