Baby names

Found out we're having a boy and we don't like any names!!

We had loads of lovely girls names in mind, I was convinced we would be told it's a girl and DH had even joked that we'd be screwed if it was a boy as he'd have to be nameless.

When we had DS we found out at 16 he was a boy and by the time I had him at 39 weeks we still hadn't agreed on a name, I didn't feel strongly about anything. My DH named him, it was a name I didn't even particularly like but I didn't like anything else either.

So now we are faced with naming another boy and we're in the exact same situation.

DH has come up with a few suggestions that he likes: Reece, Cameron and Lewis are his latest but I'm so completely nonchalant about them.

We don't want anything weird or old fashioned but nor do we want something common. I work with babies aged 0-2 and see about 40 new patients a week so at least I know which common names to avoid....but then it makes it harder when my husband suggests names which I know to be really popular and I tell him no for that reason.

Maybe I could just give the baby one of girl'a names? Grin

Why are boys names so hard? Sad

I desperately need inspiration!!!

If DD has been a boy, I would have called him Conrad. I love it.

Ollie - my best friend has an Ollie
Ben - This is going to be his middle name.
Freddie - my nephew is called this.
Max - my nephew is called this.
Joshua - dislike it
Charlie - dislike it
Jack - too common
James - dislike it

Grin

I can't tell if I'm being really picky..

Regarding conversations regarding Blaze, it was my 3 year old who liked it and me and DH don't want to call him anything like it Grin Grin

But seeing your middle name choice I guess Reuben Ben would sound like you had a stammer!

If you like Finn what about Phineas? What are your top girl names?

My sister keeps suggesting Reuben too. I've just never liked it and if doesn't seem to be in the same 'type' of name as our current son's name.

I've got to go back for another scan on Monday to check the spine and who knows, maybe the sonographer will say she got it wrong and baby is actually a girl, haha. I might ask her to just double check Grin

Phineas

Definitely too 'out there' for our tastes..... Grin

Wasn't there a Phineas Frog in some film or book? Or am I imagining it? Grin

Our top girls names were Zoe, Elise and Emily so relatively Vanilla but that's what our tastes are like. We don't do weird/fancy/posh names Grin

That's the problem with the name Lewis as although we both like it the first three letters of our surname are 'Wis' so it would odd written down.

I have a Zoe.
My boys' names are traditional as are your girl's names.
I have these in a variety of combinations
William
Thomas
Benedict
Joseph
Luke
James
George
Jacob

My dd's boy name was Adam but that's too close to Aaron. I also liked Nathan /Nathaniel...

Knock the last E off Elise and call him Elis. Lovely Welsh name. Finn is great too, doesn't need to be short for anything, and I like Toby as well.

And David Bowie was Jareth not Jared. Tsk.

I'm having a similar problem except that I am due in 6 days!

We've got a shortlist but nothing that we absolutely love and think "we must have that":

Aidan
Dylan
Freddie
Henry
Joshua
Toby
Rhys

I would go with

Charlie Benjamin Wis....
Or
Charles Ben Wis.....

You have got a while to think it over - I spent months on my DS and in the end the name I picked I added to the short list two days before birth! Our DD we didn't even think about names until she was born lol! X
