, lots of 'proper' names have such sources and origins, of course. In the UK, as I've already said, Emma has been used since C11, before Emmeline et al.
Emma is from German Irmin or Ermin. Emmeline was formed from Amal with the suffix ine. Not connected to Emma origins. Obviouslt Emm and Emma can be short for Emmeline, but that is not where its origins lie.
