Yes

TisapityshesaGeordie · 02/04/2017 12:24

Mine is far from boring! But I will admit when I call his name in public, at least 3 little boys look round.

anon050 · 02/04/2017 12:48

Sorry, it's one of the names I dislike the most. It's the " Joshi " part that gets on my nerves.

reuset · 02/04/2017 12:50

Not if you like it, OP. I don't think it is.

carabos · 02/04/2017 12:52

I have a Joshua. He's 31, so it was unusual when he was born. It's very common now but I still love it.

Brighteyes27 · 02/04/2017 13:02

Jonah (the jinx) or Joram come on.
I always remember a mum I worked with saying her son had been picked or scouted to train/play with a particular football team. He was football daft so had been really looking forward to it. But the night before the big game his mum had said he had been in tears. She asked him why and he turned round and said what am I going to say when the big boys ask my name? They'll all start trading me and laughing about my name everybody always does. I think some should bare this in. Ind when going for some fanciful pretentious name.

Alwaysfrank · 02/04/2017 13:10

Mine is in sixth form and there is only one other in a year group of 170 plus, so not that common. On the other hand my younger son is one of four with the same name in a form of 25! That's common!

harderandharder2breathe · 02/04/2017 15:26

No it's lovely

BrianWong · 02/04/2017 15:39

My son's name was no. 7 in the popular name lists for his year of birth.

Despite this, he is the only one in his year of 60 children so it depends entirely on the area you are in. I do here it about quite a lot but it is a classic name and has a family connection.

My point is, if you like it, use it. Grin

I like Josh/ Joshua. I have an unusual first (full) name and it's a pain to always have it spelt wrong/ correct it.

areyoubeingserviced · 02/04/2017 15:46

Lovely name, but there are four Joshuas in my ds's form class.

crapfatbanana · 02/04/2017 15:53

By boring do you mean not trendy? It's a good solid name. I've always liked it.

queenT90 · 05/04/2017 21:48

My Josh loves his name and he's the only one in his school year, there are only two others in the whole primary school but they are Joshua's (mines is just Josh)

Bubbinsmakesthree · 05/04/2017 22:03

Lovely name - strong but not 'harsh' (I am biased!). Does seem pretty popular though, we often find other Joshuas at playgroups etc

Joeybee · 05/04/2017 22:52

I don't think it's boring - Josh is a cute nn too.

Toobloodytired · 06/04/2017 01:23

My sons name is Joshua!
I've literally just made a thread about it.

Bloody struggling

GreenHillsSunnySkies · 06/04/2017 01:46

Oh dear, nice name but, as I just posted on the Maddie/Olivia thread there are just so many of them these days.

mum2be2boys · 06/04/2017 09:37

Love the name Joshua, it was on our shortlist for both of our boys, but we didn't use it in the end. I like traditional names though so don't find it boring at all (I have a Matthew and soon to have an Adam which I'm sure plenty of people would class as boring!)

newnamechange84 · 06/04/2017 09:47

My DS,11, is a Joshua/Josh - I love it and it really suits him!

BasicBetty · 06/04/2017 09:57

Great name. Not at all boring!

grufallosfriend · 06/04/2017 11:54

No sure I'd call it boring, but I find I don't like the sound of it, especially the Josh part. And I find the -a ending a little feminine sounding.

Imstickingwiththisone · 06/04/2017 23:43

I like Joshua but it seemed like when i was growing up in 90s every baby boys name was Joshua. So there was none in my age group but friends baby brother's, neighbours newborn, mum's best friend's son etc.

I've never really liked it being shortened to Josh but i love the name Joss!
