That was my fear which is why I vetoed it. Hope was my DH's favourite name too, but it would make me cringe every time someone said 'Ope so I just couldn't risk it.

I'm a Hannah and have never been an Anna. I don't know if it's because Anna is a different name in its own right but nobody, wherever I've lived, has dropped the H.

My IL's are from The North and we had to veto Hector for the same reason.

I want Harriet but don't know if I can cope with DH saying it starts with a "haitch" when spelling it.

Ha where haven't I lived? Up north, midlands, down south, mainland Europe, Greek Islands, Thailand. Still never been an Anna.

As it's a name I would always say Hope or Hannah, not Anna as pp.

I'd think it would be fine generally, but I like Flora, of your other choices, more.

same issue here, DH drops his 'h' so my favourite girls name of all time is ruled out (Harriet)

Someone I know called their dd Eilidh as their partner is Scottish. However, they lived in East London and when local people it just sounded as though her name was "Hayley" but people were dropping the H.

Probably. My father had a friend called Ooey. (Hugh(ie)).

We are in the East Midlands and my DD is often 'arriet to certain family members. Made worse that her middle name is 'azel. Arghhh!
