Yes a little, but will they be introduced often using both of their full names?
I'd still use it Smile

Sophronia · 18/03/2017 22:38

Yes, they're almost the same name as Dorothy is a form of Dorothea.

crapfatbanana · 18/03/2017 22:49

Yes a bit, but Theo and Dorrie/Dot/Dotty/Dolly don't.

Joeybee · 18/03/2017 23:37

I wouldn't have thought so, but now you've said it I suppose they are pretty similar. Not sure if that's enough reason not to use them together though?

SuperBeagle · 19/03/2017 03:31

Yes.

Especially if you end up with a Theo and a Dora.

RuthB4 · 19/03/2017 06:15

Not really, but if you say them together then it sounds like you have a lisp! It's the same reason I can't have Thea when I already have a Beth!

YouMeddlingKids · 19/03/2017 06:19

I never would have noticed it... I tend to only think names are too matchy if they rhyme or alliterate.

mathanxiety · 19/03/2017 06:25

Not only do they sound similar, but Theodore and Theodora and Dorothy and Dorothea have the same meaning and are basically the same two syllables in reverse order.

Basically, they are the same name, meaning 'gift of God'.
