I've narrowed down my baby's names, OH wanted Summer, I have so many that I love but he didn't like any of them. (I love hippy unusual earthy names) I Like summer have always liked it, but didn't find it stood out enough for me, and also have a friend with a daughter called summer. I said to him I would like Rae in the name, half from my name and from a baby girl that we lost, her middle name had Reya in it, he said what about Summer-Rae and it stopped me in my tracks.. I felt goosebumps and think this might be THE name, so what do you guys think?

You should go with what you love, doesn't matter what any one else thinks.
Their dc may have names that you really don't like,
And when she is old enough to understand you can tell her she has a little bit of her sisters name who is up in heaven, I think that is lovely, it's not about replacing another child, but remembering them in all of usHalo

Summer Rae with no hyphen. Lovely name.

My first thought was that it sounds like the word summary (sorry).

I would probably go with Summer, another middle name and then Rae, like:

Summer Katherine Rae
Summer Blythe Rae
Summer Faith Rae
Summer Elizabeth Rae

This is also very true though, so feel free to ignore me! Smile

I think it's beautiful. When I was working with a school, one of the mothers had a daughter called Summer and a younger daughter called Wynter. Thought it was gorgeous. Smile

Ive actually kind of gone off it myself to be Honest. But her sister who we lost wasn't called rae her middle name was Mireyah that's where I've got the rae from so it's very different and it's important to us to link the names mainly because I feel our angel blessed us with this baby she's due almost the same day our daughter died.thanks for the comments tho its back to the drawing board. And yes she will be born in summer

Anything with -Rae -Leigh -Mae -Rose is awful, sorry.

Also, sounds like you are calling your child Summery. Or Summary.

We all know that however beautiful the names we give our children are, everyone ends up being called by the first syllable of your first name! My DD has a wonderful name and what do we call her?Fee!! Your summer rae will be called Sum by her friends!!

Hmm no one has ever called me by the first syllable of my name.

Summer Rae is a great name and a lovely tribute to your DD. so sorry for your loss.

If you've gone off it a bit and like hippyish names then how about the following:

Willow Rae
Seren Rae
Linnet Rae
sorrel Rae
hazel Rae

I actually think Rae works perfectly well on its own as a first name.

Agree that Rae is lovely on its own as a first name.

Hi OP, I really like Reya, which would be a lovely tribute to your angel baby.

As I've been saying it to myself I keep thinking of summer bay. He's got his heart set on it but I don't think summer will be her first name. I'm on the hunt for a new name!

I like it , hyphenated and all, and i usually hate the names on posts like this. Yes it sounds like summery but who doesnt want to be thought of as summery? I also know a Summer Day so may just be used to this.

I know a Rachel who gets called Ray for short? It's a lovely name and every Rachel I know IRL is amazing.

Rae is the new Mae, I'm afraid. Every other baby girl seems to be called something-Rae at the moment.

Summer Rae is not my cup of tea but I can understand you wanting to honour your lost baby. You said Mireyah was her middle name. Could you think of a variant of her first name as a middle name for this baby?

Rachael is a beautiful name that allows Rae as a pet form. It will stand the test of time better than Summer too.
