Bloody autocorrect! ...its diminutives

Alexandra87 · 10/03/2017 21:39

I have a Dylan with the middle name john

ScarletSienna · 10/03/2017 22:07

I love Edward (Ned is a great diminutive I think).
Edward is a strong name and for me Dylan is more whimsical and softer. Like it though!

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/03/2017 22:12

Dylan

DrAbbyYates · 10/03/2017 22:27

Agree that they are v different. Edward is solid and classic. Dylan is a bit funkier and will, in the future, mark out a 2010s baby IMHO.

MajesticWhine · 10/03/2017 22:31

It would be Edward for me.

SuperBeagle · 10/03/2017 22:45

Edward.

I have an irrational dislike of the name Dylan. Really don't like it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/03/2017 22:45

Dylan is a pretty solid name, in Wales. Hmm

DrAbbyYates · 10/03/2017 22:55

Yes, as a character from the Mabinogion.

Not widely used as a given name until the 1960s onwards.

crapfatbanana · 10/03/2017 23:07

I love Dylan, but Edward has the edge for me. It is 'classic' but there aren't tons of kids called Edward.

Joeybee · 11/03/2017 01:36

I really like Edward. Dylan is a nice name, but for some reason it conjures up images or a loud, problematic, naughty child.

Sophronia · 11/03/2017 01:52

Definitely Edward

KoalaDownUnder · 11/03/2017 01:54

Edward. A million times over.

llangennith · 11/03/2017 03:01

So many Dylans around the last 10 years or so. It'll date! Edward is classy and timeless. .

Occadodo · 11/03/2017 04:37

Edward!!! I know far too many rouge Dylan's

CakeRattleandRoll · 11/03/2017 16:04

Edward

Mumzypopz · 11/03/2017 21:00

Absolutely hate Dylan. There are lots round by me, too much like the magic roundabout. It doesn't sound like the sort of name a clever person would have. Sorry, prob get flamed for that, maybe it's the d for dunce that does it for me.

user1472334322 · 11/03/2017 21:03

Edward for me, but that's because it's ds1's name and I love it!

Mumzypopz · 11/03/2017 21:03

Plus Dylan is going to age like Wayne and Brogan.

yoohooitsme · 11/03/2017 21:05

Either, both are lovely

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 21:08

They are both very popular names and will age like names from the 80ies did, for example.

I'd advice you to go with something entirely different.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 21:09

Neither of them is timeless imo.

But Edward is a little bit nicer than Dylan...

Imaginingdragonsagain · 11/03/2017 21:43

How can Edward age? In the U.K. At least it's been popular for centuries.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 11/03/2017 21:48

I feel like it has become very popular. A name for rather well-educated parents that want to be a bit different but still safe.

Which isn't necessarily bad. It is admittedly a very lovely name and I do understand why so many people seem to like it.
