Marissa? Girl names

My DH really wants a name starting with M for our DD to be. The only one we both like the sound of it Marissa.

What connotations/thoughts/feelings to you get with this name?

Also do you reckon we can avoid this name being nicknamed?

Marissa or Mathilda....

I know a Marissa, nn Issy or Iz. She's the happiest person I know so I associate the name with happy things.
